King Crimson - Red
Amon Duul II - Tanz Der Lemminge
T2 - It'll All Work Out In Boomland
>>
What have you listened to that you liked?
>>
I suggest you talk to everyone you know almost exclusively about how the music they like is poorly written and simplistic. Make sure to reference time-signatures, polyrhythms, progressive song-structures and virtuosity extensively. Then, after a period of anywhere from six months to several years, reflect back on this period with shame and embarrassment.

(also if you liked itcotck listen to red and starless and bible black)

This one is in a similar vein to ITCOTCK and is one of best modern prog albums out there, can't recommend it enough (just ignore the wanking interludes and the gobbledygook that is supposed to be lyrics)

Here's the old essentials list, I've worked my way through most of it now, but haven't bothered to update the rates.

If you're into prog that leans more psych/experimental, I would rec this and UP's other EPs.

Fantastic album. Rush gets undeserved shit in certain Prog circles, and it annoys me. Rush, to me, is the perfect blend of the complexity of Yes and the groovey blues of Led Zeppelin.

OP since I dont know which prog albums youve heard save for In The Court, Im just gonna list some albums I consider to be essential prog albums:
Genesis - Selling England By The Pound
Yes - Close to the Edge
Gentle Giant - Octopus
Magma - Udu Wudu
King Crimson - Larks Tongues In Aspic
Jethro Tull - Thick As A Brick
Frank Zappa - Uncle Meat
Can - Tago Mago
Henry Cow - In Praise of Learning
Art Zoyd - Musique Pour L'odyssey
The Mars Volta - Deloused In The Comatorium

Have fun, getting into prog is such a blast. Enjoy the initial magic while it lasts.

This is essential as fuck. Another near 10.

9.5/10 masterwork

Rush is great, they are a band that most people feel like they should pretend to hate because nerds openly enjoy them. But let's get serious; great songs, great lyrics, great playing, great production...
>>
Genesis - Nursery Crime
Van der Graaf Generator - Godbluff

Good list. Missing a few things imo:
J.A. Caesar - Kokkyou Junreika
Jacks - Vacant world
Embryo - We keep on
Devil doll - The Girl Who was...
Hidria spacefolk - astronautica
Lunar dunes - Galaxsea

Maybe some more, idk. Should last you for a while though
