Nice. I buy cds so I can listen in my car, have no vinyl since I think it'd be a waste to own two copies of the same albums I love.

If you like CEG I think you'd also enjoy the Beulah and Jellyfish albums up there, which are respectively softer and harder versions.

Been catching up on 2015 shoegaze stuff and other general shoegaze. I've just been in that kind of mood lately.
>>60675675
Sans Pearl Jam, Smashing Pumpkins, and Ozma (since I never listened to them), I like everything on that chart. How does Bellybutton compare to Spilt Milk? I've yet to listen to that album, but I loved Spilt Milk.
>>60675723
Not much of a metal fan, but Melvins and QOTSA are on my to-listen to list. What's a good album to start with for either?
>>60675757
I haven't listened to emo in a bit, but I can tell you have good taste in it (although I was never the biggest TBS fan, even when they were new). What's your favorite Husker Du album?
>>
>>60675840

OP here
>somebody else that appreciates the genius of Yo La Tengo
I think Heart is their best album overall but I prefer Painful because it's more focused, though I do appreciate the scope of Heart. Definitely their most ambitious work and every song is a masterpiece besides timewasters such as Green Arrow and Spec Bebop

Shame you don't appreciate Siamese or Vitalogy, those are both great albums. OZMA Third Age is basically a copycat of Pinkerton and hard to not love, but I could see people not liking it because the song structure throughout the album is pretty generic. Well-done, but generic. Personally I prefer Bellybutton to Spilt Milk, as it is closer to rock than the grande pop sound that they later focused on, but they are both extremely good albums. I think the first 4 or 5 songs on Bellybutton are flawless, then from there they're still pretty damn good.
>>
>>60675900
to start with qotsa, i'd probably go with either songs for the deaf or era vulgaris. melvins, go with stoner witch. everybody recommends houdini on their first listen but stoner witch was way more entry level.

Totally welcome, but that's a lot of music! Most of us could easily make huge collages but I focused on albums I seriously love and left out the ones I thought were great. Nice inclusion of C+ btw.

Heart is a masterpiece, every song is awesome except the last song. Painful is cool too, maybe too dull. I don't know what to listen now.

I have to go back and listen to SP, it's been so long I just remember not really being a fan. My main issue with Pearl Jam is I can't stand the singers voice, maybe I'll try to give them another shot as well. Also I'll check out both Belly Button and Ozma's Third Age, both sound like they'd be up my alley.
>>60675970
Will keep these recs in mind when I get around to listening to them (I have a notepad file with recs like this so I don't forget).
>>60675937
I need to go back and listen to Zen Arcade (and the other Husker Du stuff as well), It's been a while, but I remember liking them.

>>
>>60676203
Thanks for giving OZMA a chance. Their songs at least on Third Age are seriously infectious, as long as you give them the benefit of just writing great music instead of trying to take the next step of music. Kinda hurt to write that, but Third Age is simply a great album but it's basically copycat music. It's better than Weezer's Green Album at least.
