This album came out 15 years ago today.
Discuss.
And there still hasn't been a better plunderphonics record
>>60653772
I blame copyright. It's a wonder this even came out.
>>60653747
And we still don't know every sample on the album. Damn...
15 years really? Fuck.
"Since i left you" has withstood the test of time and is a classic now.
Is this /mu/core?
>>60653914
It's beyond that. This is probably one of the top albums of the 21st century.
>>60653747
Fav songs?
Mine have to be Radio, Electricity, and the title track
>>60653963
Electricity, Etoh, Frontier Psychiatrist and Live at Dominoes
this is the one album i never get tired of
>>60653747
Endtroducing > SILY
Fite me
chimika chimika chimika
>>60653747
Not even overrated, just a bad album.
>>60654607
All day everyday senpai
>>60654607
I honestly won't dispute that
Endtroducing is pretty much the pinnacle of plunderphonics IMO

Their live performance of Information is fucking based. Wish I could find a high quality rip of it somewhere.
>>60654607
on a technical level you're probably right, but SILY (for want of a better phrase) holds a special place in my heart. The title track makes me smile whenever I listen to it no matter what.
>>60654858
Technicality =/= good music for your ears. Smile everyday :)
>>60654607
nah it's true
>>60653997
Tonight and Two Hearts are my favs
>>60654607
musty bore of an album
>>60654607
what makes cancer so tenacious
>>60654607
>>60654775
>>60654823
is any of dj shadow's other stuff any good?
>>60654999
nice digits and I haven't found it that good
>mfw I finally listened to it today for the first time
>>60654999
Preemptive Strike is OK but the other stuff is incredibly underwhelming when compared to Endtroducing
>>60655043
Which track did you like the best?
>>60655079
Most of them blended together (obviously), I'll have to listen to it a few more times. Radio was really great.
and I need to book a flight tonight
>>60655107
SENDING THOSE SIGNALS
Yeah that's a great track
>>60653834
Maybe I'm wrong, but most of these artists they sampled seem rather obscure; I don't know/remember ANY of them myself. If they're obscure, I have no idea why they'd sue, especially since the album's fairly big online. You'd think they'd hope that would lead to some recognition for them, too.
>>60655225
some people are just cunts. you could get a lot of money this way
>>60653772
When you only know about 10 (at most) "plunderphonics" artists, it's not hard...
It's an album that's greater than the sum of its parts. Each track sets up the next so perfectly, and the wide array of style really makes it feel like an adventure.
>>60654999
Private Press and his collabs with Cut Chemist are worth checking out
>>60655604
If they were worth checking out they would be more popular. It's the fucking truth and you can't deny it.
Required listening for any self-described music aficionado. Not for everyone, though.
>>60655764
I'm saying that people who use terms like "plunderphonics" (and you) know almost nothing about sample-based music and the artists involved in it.
>>60655951
And I'm saying that if better sample-based music existed, then it would obviously be more popular, especially in such a tiny genre like plunderphonics. SILY and Endtroducing are the only albums talked about for a reason.
>>60655988
>I haven't heard of it so therefore it doesn't exist
>>60655988
>tiny genre
Dude, artists using samples pretty much ran Soundcloud for about 3-4 years...
>>60656017
>>60656041
>it's a plunderphonics album on bandcamp that has been heard by less than 1,000 people so therefore it is patrician and must be good
>>60653747
Who are the Avalanches?
>>60656055
Cool opinion, now why don't you admit you've only heard of those two albums and are just making assumptions based on laziness?
>>60656055
Plunderphonics is a shit term.
>the only sample-based albums are SILY, Endtroducing and crappy bandcamp releases
lol
>>60656104
I can. I've only listened to those 2 and Donuts if you count that. Rec me some shit that is worth checking out then if I'm wrong.
>>60655764
>if they were worth checking out they would be more popular
haha holy shit
>>60656137
>only listen to the three most-listened to albums in a huge genre
>hasn't heard of any other albums so therefore the rest of it must be TERRIBLE!
This is you. If you're serious, check out artists on the following labels: PAN, Uno Nyc, Leaving Records, Janus, Tri Angle, RVNG International, Brainfeeder, This Thing, Sensory Projects, Non - just off the top of my head.
>>60655225
I know for a fact Raekwon's "Only Built 4 Cuban Linx" record was sampled.
