all of those artists are far more varied and creative than mac demarco, who basically does the same song over and over again
>>60633299
no beck was obnoxious and unfriendly
>>60633299

>every song sounds the same

Mac DeMarco is Jimmy Buffet for millennials.
>>60633617
how are any of mac's songs the same?
/mu/ can't handle this because they want so desperately to hate le goofball mac, but I actually did discover mac while I was looking for something similar to pavement.
He sounds like late era pavement, but that's still pavement.
>>60634561
Mac sounds nothing like buffet at all
>>60633720
>malk can't shred
shit the fuck off
>>60634561
haha i see this. and i dig a lot of mac's stuff.
>>60633299
you're giving mac demarco way too much credit with those comparisons, not to mention none of them make any sense
>>60633720
trying too hard m8, Mac can play the guitar like a motherfucker. I've been playing for 10 years and his guitar work is some of the best I've heard in recent years. Pavement had some decent guitar stuff as well, but I can see your point to some extent.
>>60638133
Mac is definitely a better guitar player than Malkmus.
>>60638521
Genuinely curious question from a non guitar player: is this true? Mac's never been known for his flashy guitar skills, but is he one of those subtly good guitar players where actual guitar players really respect what he does?
>>60636615
it's a meme that mu invented when Mac got too famous for them
>>60638573
look up makeout videotape, Mac was a fucking pro since high school
mac d'marco is pretty good brah
Honestly, the reason I like Pavement's slacker vibe and hate Mac DeMarco's is because Pavement's songs actually sound very fun and goofy. There are tons of silly things like funny lyrics or vocal sounds or goofy guitar lines and percussion sounds that make it all sound very loose. It sounds like goofy slacker music.
Mac's music on the other hand just sounds like dull rock that would play on the yacht of somebody's dad's dentist. It doesnt match with the goofy persona at all.
