Idk. If you completely recontextualize something in a way that the original artist never would have thought of, I think that's cool. Whether or not you should have to pay royalties, I think that should be figured out on a case by case basis.
But anyway, there's so much out there to sample, why even bother risking doing it with the big stuff? And if you do it with something that's instantly recognizable, I think it kind of defeats the purpose. I like to just find random shit on youtube, like search for someone doing an accapella cover of a song and sort it by upload date so you find stuff that nobody has even watched. That way you find something unique, and nobody is going to come after your ass.
is he right about metal?

Is this the worse prefix in music?
>hur dont mind me, just listening to some melodic baroque
>>60620539
Where the fuck does he draw the parallels between classical and metal?
>>60622065
I've heard the idea before. It's not entirely unreasonable. They're both highly technical, and both extremely heavily theory based. There's little improvisation as compared to something like Jazz, there's a lot of virtuosity, longer songs, songs with multiple sections that transition between different feels and time signatures.
>>60622102
This and a whole subgenre relies on the so called neoclassical style
>>60622053
Melodic anything is a meme genre.
>"Wow! This is the shit! I love this A Major rock dude!"
Next thing you know we give a genre for every time signature.
