Death Grips pioneered post-rap on niggas on the moon

Giant Claw has been doing some real interesting cut-n-pastin' on Dark Web and other releases

Have a Nice Life perfected this blend of shoegaze, post punk, post rock, and slight black metal

Swans have set the bar for the next wave of post-rock which will be groove heavy and drone based
>>
>>60619716
as a fan of all those bands i sincerely hope you kill yourself as soon as possible

Vaporwave started, the most experimental genre of all time

Why 2010?

>>60619732
kek
>>
>>60619690
Ratking's really good and all but you're kidding yourself if you think they're pioneering any new sounds here.

>>60619716
death grips i'll give you partial credit for but really only because exmilitary was fairly fresh, that was early 2011 though
the rest just no

>>60619752
>>60619758
I was thinking vaporwave started in 2010, but I guess I was wrong on that. So music hasn't evolved since 2011.
>>
>>60619732

>>
>>60619716
Memes aside, this fucking hits the bullseye.
Swans have proven that you CAN have crescendo-ish post-rock without fucking sounding like a shitty third wave post-rock band ala Explosions in the Sky.
DG are pushing hip hop pretty fucking far, they're taking influences all around from punk rock, industrial music, experimental electronic etc.
HANL pretty gave birth to the second side of blackgaze. Alcest created blackgaze that leans more to black metal, HANL are now creating the counterpart to that, with blackgaze that leans more to shoegaze.
Either way this is a fucking great decade for music and if you think otherwise you're eithet plain ignorant or uninformed and naive.
>>
>>60619665
It is evolving, and at a continuous rate, but the audience has gotten too nostalgic, jaded, and cynical to notice or care.
>>
>>60619792
thanks:)
>>
>>60619665
Give me some examples of what you thought was "actually fresh" in 2010 and I'll post accordingly.
>>
>>60619802
>otherwise you're eithet plain ignorant or uninformed and naiv

*tips fedora*
>>
>>60619802
There is nothing remotely blackgaze about The Unnatural World though

Also nothing Swans is doing is new except for incorporating funk into post rock, which I don't think is interesting enough of an idea to spawn a new genre
>>
>>60619866
>le fedora leddit maymay XDDDD
Jesus christ is that all you have to say
>>
>>60619665
Here's something I put out.

I tried to hard be as original as possible.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lIxK2-1rK9U

Yes I am legitly trying to be historically known as the most innovative musician of all time.
>>
>>60619892
>incorporate funk into post-rock
You've only listened to A Little God, haven't you?
Do yourself a favor and listen to To Be Kind or The Seer.
The Unnatural world lacks all the blackgazey elements, I'll give you that. Deathconsciousness doesn't.
>>
>>60619892
>funk into post-rock

you meant noise rock and drone into crescendocore right

right
>>
>>60619906
I've listened to both of those dude the seer is amazing but not "innovative" per se, it's pretty much droney second wave post rock
>>
>>60619918
Tbh I wouldn't even call it Crescendocore. It lacks the influence from GY!BE's style of post-rock, which funnily enough was influenced by Soundtracks.
>>
>>60619700
keeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeek
>>
>>60619930
Show me other droney second wave post-rock.
You can't? There, it's innovative.
TBK is the stronger album of the two IMO. More variation, more solid, less filler.
Oh yeah, and Bring the Sun is the greatest post-first wave post-rock song there is.
>>
>>60619791
vaporwave started in 09
>>
>>60619665
this question is so vague and subjective as to make me vomit
>>
>>60619952
And don't forget the heavy noise rock influence too. It's all over the longer tracks on that record.
>>
>>60619665
i bet you listen to anco lmao

Have a Nice Life didn't do much new things with TUW.

Swans are doing what they usually do.

Deathgrips aren't exactly doing anything new, but they are bringing experimental hip hop to the mainstream.
>>
>>60619952
Holy shit godspeed you black emperor is probably the most important post rock band and they have drone stuff on every album

Also...SFTB? Incorporated noise rock and drone. And Hell, Glosoli by sigur ros has some noise rock influence, not to mention Disco Inferno; that influence isn't too new either. I love Swans' latest period but they aren't doing anything incredibly unprecedented
>>

what the FUCK is an alcest
>>
>>60620031
>sigur ros

trying too hard/10
The only drone parts in SFTB were actual drone, they had no post-rock. The post-rock parts had no drone either.

If you consider making post-rock the new metalcore to be important, then I guess.
>>
>>60619901
uhhh...
>>
>>60620065
Whether you think they're good or not, they definitely did/do make post-rock that incorporates drone, which is all my original argument was

Arca - &&&&&
Rustie - Glass Swords, BBC 1 Essential Mix
PC Music & friends
iLoveMakonnen - Drink More Water 5
Hudson Mohawke/Lunice/TNGHT
these are artists that have made pretty innovative/fresh music post-2010 that i like

as for rock type music, i think its kind of in a rut, so i would agree with you there
>>
>>60619961
compare music of most any genre from 5 years ago to now and it's not all that different. anything that was released this year could have been released in 2012 and it wouldn't have made a difference.

>>60619974
not much

>>60620064
ariel pink hasn't changed much since 2010

>>60620139
once again this type of stuff started appearing around 2009-2011, and it hasn't had a ton of influence on anything either
>>
>>60620195
>once again this type of stuff started appearing around 2009-2011, and it hasn't had a ton of influence on anything either
well thats a complete lie
almost all of those artists have contributed greatly to electronic music in the last couple of years
and also this thread didnt say "influential" it said "fresh" which i can most certainly say these releases are pretty fresh
>>
>>60620117
They certainly are a good band, but by no means would I call them the most important. Slint, Swans and Talk Talk are far more important in the genre.
>>
>>60620284
the only one from this year is makonnen and that's just jokerap

some genres evolve more than others.
rock is dead and the main portion of what's interesting happens on the electronic side of the spectrum.
