have you listened to any Sade? Personally her voice really reminds me of Rhye. I've also been into Diana Ross lately so i'm kind of reccing her to everyone. Tune-Yards has some really interesting percussion, especially in live set. You might like Cat Power if you are not familiar with her work.

dear god i love Dido. i never post about her here though because i assume everyone thinks she's mum/aunt-core. Her followup album to No Angel, Life For Rent is very very good. Similar style and sound but just slightly better songwriting. No one quite does what Dido does for me, but I suppose the closest I can rec is Jewel's early work and perhaps Alanis Morisette.

not exactly. nothing that has quite the same lo-fi sound. For Moon Pix she worked with The Dirty Three. I like their album 'Ocean Songs" but that's all i've heard of them. Perhaps PJ Harvey & John Parish - A Man A Woman Walked By. Liz Phair or early Beth Orton.

honestly lana just writes really solid pop songs imo. i know a common criticism is that the timbre of her voice is kind of lazy or uninteresting, but Ultraviolence really encapsulates her potential range, much less singing in the moody low BtD voice.
