What is the '90s equivelant of Trout Mask Replica and why is it pic related?

I have never seen this cover before but I love it.

Dude. Listen to Negativland. They're essential experimental popular music.

caroliner and US Maple are more like TMR.
tfuls song stuctures don't remind me of TMR, but their humour does big time. The feller filler off lovelyville sounds like it's straight from TMR.

I was thinking more about how it's an experimental album that got a lot of exposure because of a publicity stunt. Like how part of the appeal of TMR is the album's history.
It's actually this
Is mother of all saints the logical conclusion to post-punk?
>>60604451
I guess this makes sense, but the context of it's creation is far more important for Helter Stupid. Without it, understanding the concept of the album is next to impossible. I see it more as the result of a social experiment.

Thinking fellers is pretty straightforward compared to other 'experimental' bands. Seriously don't understand all the praise they get.
>>60609382
don't hate on the fellers man. don't be that guy.
That being said, their songs are straight forward compared to experimental bands, TMR and the like, cause they have an immediately recognizable and relatively accessible structure.
Mother of all saints is still amazing though. Their other stuff is good, but no where near MoaS.
Trumans Water too
Spiderland
