it depends on which variety of music you're listening to. If you're listening to obtuse technically-focused music with a moderate gratifying power, then you're most likely pretentious, because you're trying to feel more cultured and clever than other people, who listen to music because it sounds good. That second category of people are also likely to listen to a wide variety of music, but they won't do it to fulfill some kind of moral imperative to be open-minded, they'll do it out of curiosity, or maybe because they've grown tired of listening to the same things and want new stuff.

It's not. But using your varied taste to better yourself to online strangers while berating others is. And a lot of socalled patricians listen to music to impress others, rather than out of direct enjoyment of the music. Also, using pleb/patrician seriously is laughable.
