This is beautiful. I find it hard to believe it's considered dubstep. I always thought dubstep was just loud trashy EDM for simpletons. Too many people like myself make that mistake about music all the time.

Got any recommendations?

Recommendations for similar albums, I mean.

Why are pardners so unblievably fucking clueless?

Why and how did you let an electronic genre like hip hop take control and then just have ''EDM''?

Even on /mu/ the average pardner could'nt say the difference between techno, house, breaks and garage.
>>
>>60578537
Never thought this was dubstep, is it really?
>>
>>60578537
>>60578716
Yes, it's Dubstep / 2-step / UK Garage.

The "loud trashy EDM" shit you're thinking of is called "Brostep." A different genre.
>>
>>60578741
and what is bro step?
>>
>>60578674
>implying anything as instantly gratifying and inherently terrible as electronic music made for dancing is worth differentiating between.
>>
>>60578749
https://rateyourmusic.com/genre/Brostep/

"An offshoot of Dubstep characterized by a heavy emphasis on catchy or aggressive mid-range melodies, as opposed to the typical sub-bass oriented sound of traditional Dubstep."
>>
>>60578537
Maybe check out Digital Mystiks, a record label Burial was influenced by I think.
>>
>>60578574

>>
>>60578741
I always thought Burial's music was considered just dub but I never looked into it, interesting. Also I remember back in the day people would listen to shit off like rottun records and hate on artists like skrillex claiming that they don't listen to brostep. Would stuff such as that by Artists such as Excision or Datsik before they really blew up be considered brostep still? Or is it another off shoot genre?
>>
>>60578886
>just dub
that would be something like this
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0T3tg6Xwt7A
>>
>>60578864
No its not because future garage is not a real thing.

>>60578886
How could it be? Dub is Jamaican music. Have you never listened to King Tubby or Lee ''Scratch'' Perry.

=Albums=
- Emancipator - Dusk to Dawn
- Little People - We Are But Hunks of Wood
- KOAN Sound & Asa - Sanctuary
=Songs=
- Anything by Sorrow (Chronicle, Munscroft, Aether ft. Shura etc)
- Anything by ZES (Hesitate, Grimm, Departure)

-Emperor - Dust and Echoes

Go nuts. Hope you find something you really enjoy.
>>
>>60578886
those artists started out as Dubstep but then evolved into trashy Brostep / Complextro.

also, i forgot to add that Burial is mainly considered "Future Garage," another genre you can read up on. he's definitely more Future Garage than UK Garage.

Thanks guys. It's only recently that I've been getting into electronic music (after years of listening to rock, indie, and folk), and I'm really enjoying what I've been hearing so far, mostly thanks to /mu/.
>>
i guess burial is considered dubstep cus a lot of his stuff has a lot of sub bass and a kick on the 1 and a snare on the 3 (half-time)

but it's also a lot slower than dubstep and often has a more ambient/atmospheric slant. he doesn't really fit into any particular mold, but i'd say he's much closer to 2-step. Also, his later EPs incorporate more of a house-influence as well.
>>
>>60578537
mala - mala in cuba
zomby - with love
mount kimbie - Crooks & Lovers

>the king
kode9 - Memories of the Future
>>
>>60579491
>house influence
All of his stuff is really, really influenced by house.
If you can't see why that is, you clearly don't know a thing about club music.

>>60579592

nah, man is lost to footwork, he missing his 'nuum
>>
>>60578908
this is the worst rec ever
>>
>>60579607
Well, I meant that it wasn't just influenced by it - but that you can really hear it in a much clearer way (mostly rhythmically). Like Ashtray Wasp is a lot closer to house than South London Boroughs, though I suppose it's already especially noticeable on tracks like Raver. But obviously his use of vocal sampling has always drawn inspiration from house vocals.
>>
>>60579677
Loner is the tune you're thinking about.
It's using a house beat, which isn't all that unusual for him.

Think about Temple Sleeper, which, while shit, was sampling fantastic trance tune wholesale.
>>
>>60579686
Kindred in general was pretty house-y (with the title track being the least so). And Temple Sleeper was from 2014. All I meant in my OG comment was that his post-Untrue work is much housie-ier than the s/t or SLB or the Distant Lights EP. It's more at the forefront, stylistically.

try:
volor flex
wife
late
sorrow

all kind of remind me of burial, sorrow being the most detached but still good.

and yeah also some of the other recommendations like koan sound (sanctuary), mount kimbie, zomby. although they go in a different direction.

>>60578908
wtf why emancipator and little people? dont get me wrong, i really love their stuff, but they have nothing in common with burial
>>
>>60578908
fucking god awful wow.

El-B, Wookie, Darqwan, Zed Bias Some Early Benga and Burial imitators like clubroot and nocow have that dark 2-step feel
