And of course the music will be boring if you just listen to five second snippets of it. Music isn't something that you can experience in an instant. You have to hear what comes before and what comes after those snippets to actually experience it.

Maybe it's because when I first started listening to /mu/-core stuff I was really into ultra-chatotic math-core and prog. metal, but i found the compositions of the songs to be rather simple and quiet. I'm definitely not saying it's a bad thing, however it does make getting into the music really hard, if not down right impossible for me because the lot of it really just isn't my thing.
As for the repetition and ambiance, the first time I listened to Sawns for example, here's what I was thinking throughout the album.

Granted, I'm over simplifying things, but it bored me to tears.

Swans is worth getting into, Screenshot is like that, Some Things We Do is more varied, shorter and creepy, like a normal song, and Kirsten Supine is slower but more melodic, just all of TBK is just really good, I listened to The Seer too, and besides lunacy and The Seer it was pretty forgettable in comparison, 8/10 at most
