lol top kek rekt
>>60568209
I don't get it. Could some kind anon elaborate this for me? The itunes part.
>>60568975
itunes is 256 kbps
>>60568993
Ahh yes, thank you.
>caring that much about bitrate lower than ~160-192kbps
How do you know it wasn't ripped from a cd using itunes encoders?
That's what all my music is. Sounds just fine.
>>60568993
Itunes has options available to rip music from 96kbps through 320kbps in multiple audio formats including mp3, wav, etc. At least it did when i last used it. I stopped updating after itunes10 when it went from poopy to absolute shit.
>>60569138
It also apparently has a lossless encoder.
>>60569042
>He doesn't exclusively listen to flac files ripped from his vinyl collection
>>60569118
Why would you willingly buy from/use itunes?
>>60569268
Because I'm a pleb.
>>60569243
>vinyl
>vinyl collection
>>60569320
How much money a year do you spend on music?
How much do you make?
>>60569336
The bitrate for vinyl is technically infinite, so it is infinitely better than any digital format.
>>60569378
I've been buying a couple CDs every month.
>>60569405
Vinyl doesn't have a bitrate. The physical grooves are it's limitation.
>>60569405
That's not true. Sound in real life has a constant bitrate of around 1400kbps.
>>60569214
It does, but it only rips cds into ALAC, which is objectively the third worst lossless format.
>>60569405
but vinyl lacks depth. Digital files can handle more frequencies, which is why music has to be mastered to sound good on vinyl.
>>60569505
Third worst? Out of how many total lossless formats?
>>60569505
I can only think of 3 lossless formats... (FLAC, WAV, ALAC) what else is there?
>>60569545
>>60569550
FLAC > ALAC > WAV > APE
>>60569562
Oh so it's the third worst, but the second best.
>>60569505
Objectively state why Apple's alac is the third worst.
It has an average compression for a lossless format and a good decompression speed. It allows for tags used by media players and supports gaplless playback as all lossless formats do
>>60569581
Yup
>>60569600
Hello
>>60569562
I've never seen APE before. I just looked it up, but does anyone legitimately use it?
>>60569624
Some ancient torrents in RU have them. Its shit, don't use it. I reconvert them into FLAC.
>>60569482
Nice
>>60569624
They can have the best compression of the lossless codecs but they have some of the worst decompression speeds. It takes twice as long to split a ape cue than a FLAC cue
>>60569243
I can totally understand this mentality if you're going to be listening to music on an expensive sound system. I have a feeling that so many of these bitrate purists are probably listening to their shit on an MP3 player with headphones.
>>60569138
iTunes Store-bought albums are only 256.
