So many great choices. My top five are:
1. Grateful Dead/Skull and Roses
2. American Beauty
3. Europe '72
4. Live Dead
5. Workingman's Dead

They have something for everyone, you just have to explore a bit. Some of the albums are more psychedelic while others have a more traditional rock, prog rock, or blues feel.

What are some good live albums from the 90s onward? I've listened to a ton of their 70s stuff, especially Europe 72 albums.

The Grateful Dead is by far my favorite band.
>>
I'm not usually a "rong generashun" guy, but man I would've liked to see the days when there were great jam bands like GD
>>
I've loved American Beauty for the longest time and enjoy Terrapin Station--recs to go from there?
>>
>>60529251
Jam Bands are still going strong, friend. 2015 was the best year in recent memory. Fare Thee Well was a massive celebration of The Dead, and now Dead and Company is touring and absolutely killing it. Phish is playing the best they have since the late 90's, and their lot scene is still huge. Not to mention Umphrey's, DSO, Gov't Mule, or any of the other second tier jam bands still touring.

Yeah, there aren't any new good new jam bands coming on the scene yet. But I think with the resurgence of The Dead and Phish, some will start showing up.

Into the trash

Check out Europe '72, for American Beauty style country influenced jamming. It's probably their tightest sounding live release they have, too.

If you are getting into Terrapin, check out shows from their Spring '77 tour. Pretty much every show was exceptional. 5-8-77 from Cornell is the go to, and is generally considered their best show.

i listened to american beauty first time yesterday, what next?
>>
>>60529500
i went to a moe show, the music was good, but i hate how people just talk all the fucking time during jam band shows, like why is that allowed????
>>
>>60530482
Europe '72 and Live/Dead
>>
>>60529515
I can see arguments for moving it up to four but it is objectively worse than Skull and Roses, Live Dead, and Europe '72. I like American Beauty better than some of these because it was my first, that is why it is my #2.

Who's the best keyboardist and why is it this guy?
>>
>>60531633

Keith is based but i think Brent is my fave, even though Pig was the original soul of the band

As for the guy with 90s shows, you only want the spring '90 series, most stuff after that kinda tanks imo

who here /StStephen/?
>>
>>60531695
Only if St. Stephen is with William Tell. If it isn't, it can go in the trash.
>>
>>60530659
I know what you mean senpai. Phish and the Dead are better because most of the fanbase is so obsessed, but even there you get the occasional talker. Smaller bands that don't have a dedicated following have it bad because on any given night most of their crowd could be kids who are just there to loudly hang out because they couldn't find any edm shows to go to.

The worst thing about the jam scene, by far, is that the crowd crosspollinates w/ edm.
>>
>>60528945
I was at all three nights. Good times.......

>Only if St. Stephen is with William Tell

Do you mean The Eleven?

Are you referring to "William Tell has stretched his bow til it will stretch no further more"?

That song is known as The Eleven.
>>
The Grateful Dead are fine, but I was always more of a Warlocks fan, myself. Best Dead was before 1968. Pig Pen was THE MAN! (That's not to diminish everything they did after 1973, but I know what I gravitate more the most)

acoustic Dead is best Dead
>>
>>60533370
Lol. I love Ron too but it's objectively stupid to think they were better back then. The group matured so much and became much better musicians over the course of the early years.
>>
>>60533370
Also, I seriously doubt this is an informed option. 99% chance this is a "cooler than you" hipster view.
>>
What are some more songs that sound like Shakedown Street (Dead or otherwise)? Love the funkiness of it.
>>
>>60527473
skull and roses is literal god tier
everything on there is pure bliss

I'll be grateful when the deadhead are all dead.
