Remind me why this entry level pop garbage is good?
>>60509206
Because it's catchy as fuck senpai
It's okay at best.
>>60509206
>implying i'm going to spend my time explaining the importance of the strokes' debut to some kid who was probably shitting his diaper when this album first came out
its not catchy.... only hipsters who think they have the best music taste think this is a classic record

its trve

>>60510757
this has been the retarded contrarian stance against it since its release.
>>60509206
because every song on it is incredibly efficient and super-catchy.
>>60510870
>trve
are you fucking serious?

My whole millennial life I thought The Strokes were one of those punk bands from the 70s. I now realize I've been missing out and this shit is great. Thanks OP.
>>60509206
it's not, they just snuck in during a lull and kids at the time didn't know any better

Holy shit dude. Didn't you Sonic Youth in high school? Or Alice in Chains or whatever the fuck? You've had time to expand. You should know more about music by now.
>>60509206
Because it's a knee.
It's not

>Completely changed the musical landscape
>Clever but simple songwriting
>fun songs, while still having an emotional weight
>came out during a time when music was the sonic equivalent of benzodiazepine
>dance to it, play it while driving, listen to it at home, whatever you want to do with it, you can
I'm not saying it's the best thing ever, but it's a good album and /mu/ just hates on it to be edgy.
>>60509206
Fucking classic riffs on this album you have to admit
>>60509420
rekt
>>60513308
pretty much this, all songs are solid and Casablancas' delivery is great in The Modern Age for example
>>60509206
It must suck making something this good and realizing its a fluke that you will never be able to repeat.

music was worse than benzos, it was like a bad batch of meth (gaudy, derivative, trailer trash)
Linkin Park, Godsmack, Bad Metallica, Creed, Limp Bizkit, and similar ilk all contributed to rock being a total fucking joke. The Strokes did everyone a huge fucking favor when they came along. It's akin to what they say about Nirvana's positive impact but without the bad side effect of kicking off the grudge era.
>>60514128
>grudge era
> People are actually using the expression "entry level" unironically

I don't find myself skipping any of the songs on this album, and I've listened to it for years.
That's the greatest sign of an album being great in my opinion.
And really, this is one of those albums that I really can't understand someone not liking at all.
