100%, and i find that the more instrumental elements present, the more i like it. Illmatic, Aquemini, and Endtroducing are the only i listen to tbqh
there is plenty of great hip-hop out there, but by and large i find it to be a fairly narrow genre with a more limited range of expression than other styles of music. i don't think this is in any way inherent to hip-hop, i just think the genre still has a lot of growing to do.
