I actually find it fascinating that they took one genre that's defined by its visceral and primal nature and then take another genre that's usually defined by how noisey and textured it is and then merge them together, only to create something that's weak on both fronts.
I mean I'm not really mad about it, not every bm album is going to be as good as De Mysteriis and not every shoegaze album is going to be as good as Loveless at the end of the day but it feels to me like they sacrifice either one genres identity for the other throughout their music and that fucking sucks.
Like I was promised blackgaze but what I got was really soft and ethereal bm. That's why I like Angelic Process though, they managed to stay true to the heavy monotony of doom and the layered noisiness of shoegaze without sacrificing a thing.
I'm sure there is a place for them but to me I could be listening to MBV, Windir, Mayhem, Goslings, Negura Bunget, Astrobite etc instead, all artists who don't compromise anything to fit into a niche.

Dub Techno from the 2010s? eh. Not really a genre I kept up with tbhq...my interest kind of dropped off..
not much "pure" dub techno coming out nowadays that i like - a lot of the super the well known stuff (some of levon's stuff, prince of denmark/traumprinz the list go on) seems to incorporate house-y elements. obv you have deadbeat and shifted, and all wax's stuff is good. sorry i can't help much, i dunno much about this area of dance
