That album in particular is actually a pretty great listen.
Even then, the band's retarded fanbase overrates it unbearably, which causes most everyone else to ridicule the album without giving it a chance, but I recommend listening to it and forming your own opinion.

Four great albums, one solid rarities collection, one weak-ass EP and one atrocious demo. Still, I think THE TOOL are a decent band. Has to be said - the only thing worse than the obsessive Tool fanbase is the obsessive Tool hatebase.

I feel like whether or not you find the album the best a not depends on what type of music you like, if you like progressive rock, laturalus will probably be your favorite album by them if not the only tool album you like, if you like alt metal you will probably prefer one of their other albums

That's probably a fair point. I was really stuff like Deftones and early Incubus when I got into Tool. I like progressive rock as well, so naturally I enjoy Lateralus a lot too.
