Post albums mentioned solely to bolster someone's eclecticism/credibility on a genre they know next to nothing about.
>>60357451
What genre is Grimes and who produces similar music?
I love free jazz so much lol XD
Oh yeah I love Coil... The Ape Of Naples, Love's Secret Domain, I could go on...
This b8 just get weaker and weaker the more it's posted, and it was already pretty weak to begin with.
Who the actual fuck is listening to Grimes to bolster their eclecticism or credibility?
hahahaha oh my god dude crotch rock is fucking killer
>>60357531
OP is bait, but it's a good thread concept.
Every /mu/core fag has this album and no other jazz
>>60357591
It was never a good thread concept. You could basically reword it to "ITT: Overrated Albums".
>>60357666
That's not what it means, though. Plenty of these albums are great. Are you feeling insecure because someone criticized your posturing?
anything avant math listens to
>>60357689
>I said overrated=bad
>I use overrated as a genuine criticism
>I have a reason to posture on an anonymous image board
I think I'll just go outside now.
>>60357506
>>60357627
>this album is a fucking masterpiece, my favorite jazz album
>>60357627
Kind of Blue, too.
And they rate both 10/10 with their superiorly honed jazz taste.
>>60357652
>Swans are shit! I only listen to real no wave; Glenn Branca, Mars, DNA, the list goes on!
Morton Feldman, Graham Lambkin, Les Rallizes Denudes, Julius Eastman, Robbie Basho, Aaron Dilloway, Os Mutantes, the list goes on and on...
>>60357540
Hmmm it's this one m8
>>60357652
I'm ready for the meme that this is somehow superior to Swans in any way to fucking die. Branca is to Gira as Silver Apples is to Kraftwerk. If you think otherwise you're fucking wrong.
>>60357860
Branca and Gira are entirely unrelated and so are their discographies. The only people who will argue otherwise are obsessed with superficial genre pedantry
will never understand why you guys decided to start memeing pram
>i'm a world music man myself. exuma, fela kuti, the list could go on
>>60357908
They are related though. Gira used to play in Branca's ensemble and has commented on taking inspiration from his compositional style on several occasions. What I'm saying is Swans output is more refined and realized in the same tropes that Branca was trying to purvey than anything Branca has ever done. To compare them now is kind of ridiculous because it's evolved so much after all this time, but Gira was literally a pupil of Branca.
punk is my life br0
I love electronic music xD
>>60357510
What the fuck? Love's Secret Domain is their best album. More like The Ape of Naples, Horse Rotorvator, I could go on...
>tfw most of the albums posted in here are the artist greatest achievement
>tfw being poser means liking the best album from a musician
>tfw
how is this even music discussion in any way? how about you jolly african americans just listen to music you like instead of attacking people's authenticity over the internet
>>60358233
You're missing the point. These aren't bad albums (usually) and you aren't necessarily a poser for liking them. They're just albums that people with no knowledge of the genre/artist latch onto and use to seem cultured. e.g. "I'm into jazz... Miles Davis, John Coltrane, I could go on"... if you actually listen to other jazz, it's fine
>>60358187
>I love electronic music xD
Come on mate, be fair. No one that likes this album talks like that.
>>60357451
nice bait m8
i heard Grimes doesn't even like artpop, and she just makes it for her fans and for partying. her first record was pretty good but fans didnt like it because it was too slow...
>>60358293
i understand but man those are essentials for a person that wants to get in to jazz (like tago mago is also a goodway to start in krautrock)
The essential "I just discovered there's music beyond what's played on the radio".
>>60358370
........................I don't even know what this is
>>60358368
You're not wrong but OP and others are claiming that these albums are liked by a lot of people for superficial reasons only.
I don't know what hipster hellhole they live in, or maybe their worldview is pulled from youtube, I don't know.
I don't really listen to pop that much. Im normally a hardcore punk, garage punk, indie rock, jazz, and experimental rap person but the new Grimes album is actually pretty good.
>>60358472
kek, i agree... but i think the point
they want to give is that most people just stay
with the more known albums and artist of a genre.
I don't think this is bad because you had to start somewhere, like if you wnat to get into prog you should listen to ITCOTCK and not something by Alagarnas Tradgar

>>60358370
I don't see people bring that album up too often. I think the best fit for your description would be something like Bon Iver or Meme DeMarco
>>60358663
sorry man
>>60357627
Literally any jazz album because jazz is a poser genre.
>>60358961
actually i think any /mu/core albums/artist are for
brainwashed posers, they listen to this hipster shit
to fit in this hell hole and for say they know
everything about music instead of listen to what they like
>>60359046
+1. They're like an army of zombies that listen to literally the same thing. No personal taste, nothing.
>>60359120
Kek, thanks i thought i was going to get executed
>>60359046
i feel as if this is what somebody with shitty taste in music would say. lol
>>60357451
>on a genre they know next to nothing about
Isn't that pretty much a straight up pop album?
>>60357937
Holy shit I just realized that i downloaded this and haven't even listened to it.
What's it like?
>>60359046
>implying I listen to /mu/core
>using the "no u" tactic
I shiggy, my good man
