Well yeah, I do that sometimes, but I'm often busy and only find time for music while I'm driving/doing work
I always had this problem until I started dropping acid. Seems to've affected my hearing permanently. I'm able to easily pick up on lots of details in music that's new to me that would've eluded me in the past.
Normally, I'm not one to advocate drugs, but psychedelics really do tend to enhance your appreciation of the arts.
Listen to metal until you stop giving a shit about lyrics.
