How does /mu/ organize their music files?
Band - Album Title (Year)
[code]$rreplace($if2(%albumartist%,%artist%),\(^The \)\(.*\),\\2\, The)/[$left(%date%,4)] $if($ne(%albumartist%,),%album%/)$if($gt(%totaldiscs%,1),%discnumber%-,)$if($ne(%albumartist%,),$num(%tracknumber%,2) ,)%title%[/code]
In a case, on the albums that I purchased.
>>60354902
>year before the album title
what the fuck, weirdo
plus, dont even put the name of the band since they're all in the band's folder
>>60354902
>for albums:
Album Artist\Artist - Year - Album\Track# - Artist - Title
>for various songs:
Album Artist\Artist - Various\Artist - Title
>examples:
Kraftwerk\Kraftwerk - 1977 - Trans-Europe Express\02 - Kraftwerk - The Hall of Mirrors.mp3
Kraftwerk\Kraftwerk - Extra\Kraftwerk - Expo 2000 (Orbital mix).mp3
Year - Album (Band)
Like pic related.
>>60354926
>>60354954
What if you want the albums listed in chronological order? Title before Year, doesn't allow it.
>>60354902
Drive:/Music/Artist/Year - Album Title
For example
>D:\Music\Zbogom, Ajda\2010 - Statika
Artist folder / (album year) - album name
I used to put the bitrate in the album folder, but i don't use slsk anymore.
>>60354902
Make folders for artists and then
[year album]
So
Johnny Cash > 1958 Sings the Songs That Made Him Famous
>>60354960
>Windows
>>60354993
>What if you want the albums listed in chronological order?
I don't though, I list them alphabetically by artist name
album title.
I don't need anything else because I already which band and year it is.
I'm not a pleb like you fags.
>>60354954
diff. anon.
>year before the album title
for chronological order. if you have a decent player you can configure it to display them in any way you want -- i prefer artist - album (year).
>plus, dont even put the name of the band since they're all in the band's folder
why not? to be easier to search.
>>60354902
music > artist > album
iTunes
>>60355093
>has so little music that no albums have the same title
>>>/b/
Artist/Album Title/## - Song Title.extension
I do put the track no. in the filenames so they play in the correct order should I ever want to drag & drop them into a music player without adding them to the library first, but any other numerical information is unnecessary. Year doesn't need to be in the filename or path, that's what meta information is for. Once it's in the library you can sort on any parameter you want.
ok
the ones I have listened to only once or twice are organised in broad genres
the ones I really like are on a separate folder and they're organised by album title if it's a single album or by artist's name if more than one album made by that artists
I also use a system to rate the album and have a pretty autistic backlog
>>60355199
I have the track number in the song file too since I like to sort my playlist via file path in foobar rather than the meta data.
i dont
music folder > artists
artist folder > artist releases.
Pretty much the most useful way to go
>Music
>>Band
>>>Albums
>>>EPs
>>>Etc
>>>>Year - Album Name [Flac]
>>>>>00 - Songname
>>>>>01 - Songname
>>60354902
Band (Folder)
Year - Album (Inside the folder)
>>60355346
autistic desu
[Artist]
[Artist - (Year) Album]
[01 Track]
/Music folder/Artist/Album (year)
it's not that fucking hard. if their discography is huge then..
/Music folder/Artist/year - Album
I have a music player that does that for me. It's not like I ever need to look for something in the music folder.
>Music\Artist\Album\01 - Song
>Music\Artist\Album (EP)\01 - Song
Who gives a shit about the year tho'.
Guess i enjoy 7th grade bands
Objectively correct way to sort your music:
Artist\[Year] Album\00 Track.wma
00-00 if more than one disc
Drive/Music Archive/Atist/[Year] Album
>>60354902
Artist (Year) - Album Titile [bit rate if less than 320 or if flac]
>started using beets to sort it
>beets is autist - the music sorter
>been about a year
>45% sorted
I'll finish it, one day.
>>60356018
Fucking weeaboos
Reminder that the patrician way is:
>Genre>Artist>Songs
>>60355997
if you want your albums to be sorted chronologically, then you give a shit. plus there are albums with identical names but different years. e.g. killing joke have 2 self titled albums: one in 1980 and one in 2003.
>>60356210
In that case, sure. Otherwise, nah.
>>60356108
Why [Year] Album and not Year - Album? Why 00 Track and not 00 - Track?
>>60356239
>if you have a reason to do it, sure, if not, then don't
do you have any other moronic things to add?
>>60356255
Because some albums begin with numbers. Virtually no albums begin with a square bracket so it just looks cleaner.
I'm just used to 00 Track from my iTunes days
>>60356205
you mean the shittiest way. how do you sort the discography of ulver (band known for their different to each other albums) for example? do you put their albums in different genre folders?
>>60356314
I was joking tbqhwyf
>>60355187
>doesn't organize his music by artist/band
>not music \ [band\artist name] \ [album] as a basic fucking hierarchy
>has all of his albums within the same fucking sub-folder
>has the audacity to talk shit about others
>>60356290
>I'm just used to 00 Track from my iTunes days
Why not adding the artist too? 00 - Artist - Track. When you need to quickly find it it's much better to have at least the artist and the title on every music file.
Music/Album Artist/(Date) Album Title/Discnumber.Tracknumber. Artist - Title.ext
Move: $swapprefix(%album artist%)/['('%date%')' ]%album%/%filename%
Rename: $if($and(%discnumber%,%tracknumber%),%discnumber%'.',)$if(%tracknumber%,%tracknumber%'.',) %artist% - %title%
Genres > Artists > Albums
>>60356366
he's not only an idiot but also brags about it. swag.
>>60356370
Basically the cleanest looking library out there.
Artist\Album - Year - Encoding\songnumber - songtitle.codec
folder.jpg in all folders
>>60356367
cause the artist is the folder name...
artist\album\00 track
dunno man it works for me
>>60354902
i just use spotify/last fm/bancamp
i should probably actually start saving music
What does /mu/ use?
How do you people have the patience to maintain an organized library?
>>60356434
use a script to auto name files based on tag
automatically organize album once you download it
>music folder > artist - (year) album title
or for classical music:
>music folder > composer - album title (conductor, performer)
And of course, artist/composer always goes surname first.
i dont even extract my albums senpai except the slsk ones that are already done
>>60356267
Make love, not overly organized subfolders.
My music is organized this way.
>>60356434
Use an audio player like MusicBee that has auto-organizing.
music/genre/artist - year - album
this genre thing is a mess since i try not to have too many subgenres
