will we have to wait another 3 years before a follow up to Sauna?
also what's Phil's most black metal-based release? I think pic related is the closest I've heard
I think Ocean Roar is better overall but Clear Moon has some really good songs on it

Yes it is that.
Phil said he was influenced by Xasthur and the lyrics to Stone's Ode are from Dunkelheit.
It's also his most Twin Peaks release.

I think overall Ocean Roar is a little metal-y overall, although Wind's Poem has songs that are closer to metal than anything else he's ever done.
Today I came into work and my coworker had put on It Was Hot, We Stayed In the Water. I work in a coffee shop, and Phil is a pretty vocal coffee fan so I'm glad I have coworkers that are also into the Microphones and Mount Eerie.

Overall, yeah, although I Walked Home Beholding from Ocean Roar is easily his Twin Peaks-iest song. It's practically just the Twin Peaks theme. For comparison:

No, Between Two Mysteries is definitively his most Twin Peaks song.

Literally the actual song, and the lyrics directly reference Twin Peaks.

I've only just realised now how much that track reminds me of Grandaddy
Considering how much I love that band and Phil, they share a lot of similarities sonically and philosophically

Shit, okay, I never listened to those two side by side. That's pretty striking. The Twin Peaks influence runs pretty strong throughout the whole Microphones/Mount Eerie catalog, honestly.

Young Phil also looks a bit like young Kyle Maclachan.

A little. Similar haircut, at least. Phil has far softer features though. What a cutie.

clear moon is definitely phils comfiest album
