I usually prefer two guitars, especially in a live setting. When a guitar goes to play a more melodic part live and there's not an extra guitar, the band can lose a lot of it's weight. That's why I usually prefer bands where the vocalist also plays the guitar. Mainly because 5 members is typically one too many cooks in the kitchen.
