or ariel pink. One of those two.
>>60329349
nah Derek Jarman is Jamie Stewart
>>60329349
That's actually kinda accurate, although I would say Jamie is a better artist.

Aaron Ellis. You probably haven't heard of him.
harmony korine takes a lot of influence from daniel johnston
I've only seen Trash Humpers but that would be Tobacco - Fucked Up Friends.
>>60329273
Daniel Johnston
>>60329273
Papa Roach shares many of the same qualities.
>>60329699
>>60329689
Dan's film equivalent is Don Hertzfeldt.
>>60329692
nope already taken
>>60329383
ariel pink's a good shout, if for no other reason than them both being super-indie then recently working with pop/mainstream artists.
>>60329273
Daniel Lopatin
>>60329834
someone supremely overrated by only casual consumers of their respective medium but who has stray good ideas filtered through an unfortunately adolescent lens? i can see that
>>60329654
>>60329834
Stop it. OPN is Cronenberg or Tarkovsky.
20 DAYS IN A CONCRETE FALL OUT WHAT LIFE HAVE I TO TAKE YOUR OWN
>>60329870
>OPN is Cronenberg or Tarkovsky.
just because those are his influences does not mean that's how the final product is taken
>>60329870
cronenberg???? something's wrong with your ears m8
What musician desperately wants to be a 'king of trash' John Waters type, but is too much of a fucking hipster to sincerely commit?
>>60330013
Have you ever actually watched the movies and/or listened to the music in question?
Garden of Delete is literally eXistenZ.
And Videodrome is pretty much Returnal.
>>60330039
>And Videodrome is pretty much Returnal.
Who is the music equivalent of cec?
>>60330081
Again, do you actually familiarize yourself with the media discussed or do you just post pictures of Armin Tanzarian restating accurate statements?

Korine could be called a "Trash Surrealist," using white trash rural imagery, featuring drug addicted or mentally ill characters, to create surreal landscapes like Dali used clocks and musical instruments. Korine also gets off on using cheap shock/sleazy tactics.
His fans are also guilty of reading too much into his work and declaring him a genius.
Death Grips have a bit in common here, but instead of white trash imagery, they use urban blight. Both use the drug addict and mentally ill in a similar thematic way.
Both are also shit.

Brian Jonestown Massacre
Psuedo talented hack so John Cage
jew with a fake name so bob dylan
Lmao at plebs comparing a sterile hack like OPN to such an emotionally delicate artist as Korine
Sun City Girls, early Will Oldham, Absu, and Koopsta Knicka if you want an actual all encompassing answer from someone closely following his career for almost 20 years
Mr Bungle
>all these pleb shits that don't realize Korine is just based-god Waters for emotionally numb hipsters
>>60331449
>Sun City Girls
yeah okay i can dig it
>Will Oldham
edgy babby
>Absu
of all the bands in this genre you picked Absu? any particular reason? they aren't particularly extreme or anything
>Koopsta Knicka
r u srs
>>60331501
>Will Oldham
>edgy baby
what does this even mean?
>>60331501
>Absu
Because his early work and aesthetic was very inspired by black metal and I honestly could have chosen 20 different bands that would have fit. Absu has one of the best tracks on the Gummo soundtrack, and I just feel their sound is the closest to what op was asking. Like I said, a ton of bands would fit this category it was just a matter of picking one.
>Koopsta Knicca
Since ~2012 Korine said he no longer listened to any music that had a guitar in it. He mostly listened to southern gangsta rap and trap. He repeatedly mentions Koopsta in interviews and again, it fits what op was asking more so than just saying Three 6 Mafia or Gucci Mane.
>>60331558
wow cringe
infact this entire thread is cringe
leave harmony korine out of /mu/ please
>>60331566
thanks for reminding me why I shouldn't bother coming to /mu/ faggot
