La Gran Feria- Banda Nueva (1973)

>Latin Rock, Psychedelic
>A rare record from Colombian rock group La Gran Feria. The music mainly draws inspiration from British and American 60's rock and Psychedelia (the influence of the Beatles is definitely present) but there is quite a wide array of other influences at work here too including jazz, blues, and funk, as well as traditional Colombian folk.

>post-fusion, post-bop

High energy, yet smart and entertaining playing all around.

The Gang Font featuring Interloper (2007)

>math rock, experimental, free improvisation
>This band utilizes influences from classic prog-rock acts like King Crimson or Zappa, but there are also elements of avant-garde and experimental artists like Captain Beefheart. The sound is ultimately rock, with overdriven guitars, repetitive basslines, and strong backbeats, but with complex, shifting-time signatures and song forms, as well as improvised solos and accompaniment, this album also draws some influence from classic avant-garde jazz players as well (especially from the keys player, Craig Taborn, who is becoming one of the most widely known pianists in contemporary avant-jazz.)

David Binney and Edward Simon- Oceanos (2007)

>modern jazz, composition
Alto saxophonist David Binney and pianist Edward Simon have played together before in a number of settings but on this album they present a suite of original material that resulted from their collaboration as composers. The use of singers doubling instrumental melodic lines has become slightly overused in recent years but this is an excellent example of when the idea works.

Paul Bley- Notes on Ornette (1997)

>post-bop
>Pianist Paul Bley had a prolific recording career and this is one of his more obscure albums. These interesting takes on the music of Ornette Coleman approach the music from a swing standpoint, allowing Bley the freedom to explore his melodic and rhythmic creativity over the mostly walking bass/drum duo of Jay Anderson and Jeff Herschfield. Though the set explores Coleman's music, the approach is at times reminiscent of Lennie Tristano's trio work.

Mundell Lowe- Guitar Moods (1956)

>cool jazz
>Guitarist Mundell Lowe has never recieved a lot of critical attention in the jazz world, but he had a dedicated following in his time. On this album he focuses on mood and atmosphere for a set of relaxed, laid-back guitar jazz.

Shorty Ramirez- Muerto de la Risa (1969)

>salsa, boogaloo, guaguanco
>An excellent salsa album from Puerto Rico at the tail end of the 60's. The songs and arrangements are very good but the album lacks some of the polish that salsa albums of the 70's often have, giving the music a more spontaneous and energetic sound.

Miles Okazaki- Mirror (2006)

>progressive composition, experimental, improv
>This is a series of compositions by Japanese guitarist Miles Okazaki. The suite especially explores rhythmic variations, with complex time signatures, poly-rhythms and melodies all happening at once. Interpreting the music is a stellar cast including Chris Potter, David Binney, Miguel Zenon, and Dan Weiss.

Luis Perdomo- Links (2013)

>post-bop
>Venezuelan born pianist, Luis Perdomo and Puerto Rican born alto saxophinst, Miguel Zenon have played together for years in a variety of Latin and jazz settings. On this record they play in a traditional quartet setting for some fairly straight-ahead post-bop. The general theme of the music is swing, but both Perdomo and Zenon take exciting chances and liberties in their solos, making for some highly engrossing and interactive jazz.

Fats Navarro- Nostalgia (Released 1958, Recorded 1947-49)

>bebop, swing
>Trumpeter Fats Navarro is another jazz legend who died at a tragically young age. This recording captures him in his prime and following in the footsteps of his hero Dizzy Gillespie, with intense bop numbers, but also proving capable of a more relaxed, melodic style of playing.

Re-upping this album and original text. It's not really a personal favorite of mine but I like to listen to it sometimes.

The Czars - Moodswing (1996)
>Slow-Core, Post-Rock (non-crescendo), Dream Pop. The Czars were formed in Denver in the 90’s by John Grant. Their music is lush and spacious, and strangely pretty jazzy. Grant’s lyrics are vague and open but they are delivered in such a way that words don’t matter as much as how they are said. He knows when to draw them out or keep them short. And it really works in relationship with the soft, sweet tunes. The space surrounding the notes compresses the instruments but lets Grant’s voice spill out around the whole of the recording. Like a more up-beat and jazzy Red House Painters (most of the time), but don’t take that to mean it not sad as hell. It is. A personal favorite.

Lennie Tristano and Warne Marsh- Intuition (1956)

>cool jazz, bebop, avant-garde
>This is the classic album, made up of a number of studio sessions going back to 1949. Tristano and his band (including Warne Marsh, Lee Konitz, and Billy Bauer) and showcases Tristano’s unique blend of bebop improvisation with cool swing. The last two tracks are some of the first recorded examples of free improvisation with no chord changes in jazz.

So the Jacksonville concert second coming+Duane, Greg and Jaimoe, the a&r studios concert, the whole Fillmore nights (recently the whole unedited 4 set recording came out, original Fillmore is a mashup of the four sets), the gatlimburg tapes, ludlow garage and the two Atlanta pop festival. Also something from the '71 period, I should also have the last Duane concert ever. In 10 hours I'll be home from work and start dumping. Also have a 1977 studio session between lynyrd skynyrd survivors, dickey betts, Gregg allman, Charlie Daniels and other southern rock artist if you're into that

at least judging by that song, this isn't shoegaze, it's just some bad bedroom pop that some one haphazardly slathered white noise over, though I guess that could describe shoegaze for some one that doesn't like shoegaze. My point though is that this is horrible.

fuck off, there is plenty of "normal" music in this thread, and I don't know about other people but when I post weird stuff it's because I like it unless it's something some one request. Assuming that everything is just some sort of ironic dickwaving is the sort of shit that is ruining this board. Just because something is too "weird" for does not mean that it's impossible that other people could seriously enjoy it.

Preferably soundboards and decent matrixes as opposed to every single recording, but definitely interested.
