I don't like the album, but I don't understand this as a valid criticism.

Tonnes of rock music and electronica end in fade outs and bands either have a live ending planned, or with electronica, you can fade into the next track

it's a lazy way to end a song. it usually ruins any feeling of progression in the song and it makes it seem as if the artist did not know a good ending, so why not a fade out.

Yeah, but big endings are contrived. Fading-out is a standard. You can't make 14-16 interesting endings for an album. It's silly.
>it usually ruins any feeling of progression
Four Tet constantly does fade-outs and he usually adds a new element as the track fades out, just to give the sense of the track progressing even when it's over -- as if it goes on beyond the confines of the song itself. I really like it when he does that.
I think fade-outs can be a nice way to ease you out of a song -- especially one which has a refrain at the end that repeats. I'm not saying it's applicable to every track, but it works well for many tracks.
