I don't have a problem with Claire and I think Visions is a good album. But the whole cult of Grimes that has emerged since 2012 and the absurd over praising of this album in the media is so frustrating. There aren't any perfectly crafted pop tunes on this thing. Just haphazard ideas tenuously strung together into songs.
The RYM score is bang on. It's about a 3/5, a 6/10, a C+, an average verging on decent record.

i identify as a feminist. i am well aware of my privilege as a straight, cis, white dude, so i try to use that to help those who society generally puts down just because they are who they are.
i think a lot of the people you see get angry on /mu/ over feminism are just mad at the notion of empowering women, and that's sad. i'd assume it's because of the culture that's in place, where women are generally seen as subordinate or secondary to men (see: most disney princess movies, any rom com where two guys fight over a woman like a prize), and when you find out that women are actually people who have their own opinions and voices and aren't just vessels for you to deposit semen into, people get angry and want control over them. it's actually really sad.
i'd like to hope equality for everybody, regardless of ethnicity, gender, sexual orientation, class, any of that. easier said than done, of course, but doesn't mean you shouldn't try.
