No real legitimate reason other than that I like the format as a novelty and you can get albums for dirt cheap. Plus there's a whole 8-track repair scene and I find repairing the tapes relaxing.
>>
>>60275401
Fair enough. I never really bothered with it due to the sheer fact that the players are hard to come by near me, and local goodwills and such sell the tapes for like $2 a piece, which is armed robbery, especially since cassettes are $0.50

8 Tracks are neat, my grandmother gave me one of those all-in-one consoles with one when I was about 8 or 9 and played some of my dad's stuff, actually found the occasional bleedover to be charming. What kind of music do you make, btw?

Good for you for having B&W and Nakamichi equipment. Also like the record shelf, doesn't seem like the typical cubical Ikea.

Nice, love that cassette deck. VU meters are sweet. Looks like you've about run out of space though! Or do you have another set of shelves not in your photo?

I couldn't answer this with certainty. The speakers were my biggest save. Everything else, I actually started off small and basic and would eventually sell older components when I wanted to upgrade. Sometimes you would get lucky and a crazy bidding frenzy would happen near the end of an auction. Selling off my retro was also a tremendous help.

I wanted to get a rythimik but living in a tiny apartment room (and of course being poor) I just settled with a svs sb1000. Its good but obviously rythimik is the clear winner when I auditioned both.

as long as the tweeter and midrange is facing you it's fine. the low frequencies don't give a fuck about a couch

the couch partially obscures one of the speakers.
its absolute fine.

While I'm at it I guess I'll post my latest build project. I just got back from being overseas for around 2 years and moved into this new comfy af apartment. Built these wooden record holders and single mounts to go on my walls.

SL-1200 MKII fitted with AT150-MLX

Pioneer Solid State 70s/80s amp, not great but quite decent (considering an update, at least the phono stage).

Speakers, who cares, something by Paradigm from the 90s. Not great but good for vinyl use, very "smooth" reproduction. Good for now, probably upgrade in the future when I can allocate the budget.

>>60284691
Oh and the tube amps built by my dad, based on some 50s design. You're pretty good sounding, but have some stability issues and aren't yet usable.
