I see what you did there. Anyway its because they made music that was appealing at the time to British Culture talking about the working class and how it felt to be part of that. Once they made something a bit more conventional it went over the pond to america and also became a hit with Wonderwall and champagne supernova (also the loudness war helped them alot)

Fucking Oasis. Loads of fun being an American kid walking around high school like he was Liam Fucking Gallagher. Luckily I had a friend who was pretty much the same as me so we'd walk to the record store dressed and acting like total assholes. I mean, we would have looked fine if we were in fucking England but it didn't work here. Still my favorite band. Was just playing Married With Children on my guitar actually.
