Sad music for the lonely and the depressed.
Starting with a classic.
Crywank - Tomorrow Is Nearly Yesterday and Everyday is Stupid
Carissa's Wierd - Song's About Leaving
This one is great.
>Tfw you love sad music but hate any and all emo music.
Stuff like pic related is GOAT
The Cure - Disintegration
The best of their 'goth trilogy' and their most accomplished work overall.

I have a very low tolerance for emo myself.
Have you tried American Football - American Football? It's as light as emo gets and very sad if you can empathise with the lyrics.
Also how partial are you to goth music?
Neil Young - After the Gold Rush
This isn't overly dramatic but it has a distinct melancholy to it.
Rodriguez - Cold Fact
Definitely not enough love for this album on /mu/

>Have you tried American Football?
I listened to it like a year ago, and I don't remember it too much.
>how partial are you to goth music?
I usually enjoy it.
Bauhaus - Bela Lugosi's Dead
10 minute long single. Absolutely stunning.
Also check out their first album 'In the Flat Field' the first 3 songs are GOAT and the rest of the album is OK.

American Football is as good as emo gets really.
The National - Trouble Will Find Me
A band with a solid discography. Lots to dig into.
Duster - Stratosphere
Instrumental. Highly recommended.
Hypothesis - Believe the Hyp Vol. 1

Chilly Gonzales - Solo Piano II
Do you like the piano tracks by Aphex Twin (of course you do), or the works of Erik Satie? Then get this album.
Kind of like Spitting - Kind of like Spitting

i love emo and screamo, but not really for sadness, more for self pity and energy of these bands, sometime the more post rock-ish screamo bands bring catharsis but i prefer slowcore and folk for when i'm sad
Spiritualized - Ladies and Gentlemen We are Floating in Space
Another solid discography. This is their most famous and successful album though.
Great great stuff
also this, probably my favourite sad time music. some songs hit hard
Nick Cave - The Boatman's Call
Nick Cave gets a lot of love on /mu/. This is one of his best albums.
"but did you ever, ever notice the kind of thoughts i got"

Kalle - Live From the Room
Reminds me a bit of Carissa's Wierd
Ludovico Einaudi - Islands
More sad-ish piano music.
