I stole the OP word for word from the last thread because I don't know if it's meant to be different every time edition

There was something I was going to ask about it but I forgot

I've got a track with two basses, the main one is fairly low but lacks in the really low frequencies so I added a sub bass.

Should I high pass the main bass higher than I would if it was the only bass track?

>tfw you ordered a pair of omni capsules for a pair of your mics
>they sound amazing, just in time for spring/field recording season
>tfw the two capsules aren't at all matched and they have a completely different response
>tfw you've been lemon'd again.

Man I don't know anything about microphones but those curves are way apart. How is it even possible to make things so different?

I don't even know man. It pisses me off though. The mics are a good 5dB apart for most of the run and 3dB for the rest... which is pretty non-acceptible.

Granted, i don't have a proper acoustics lab so my results won't be 100% accurate, but my results *are* precise. And either way you can hear that shit clearly... one is bassy, one is bright. Fuckin' hell. I'm considering buying another pair of omni capsules so I can find TWO our of the FOUR that match, but what a waste of money. In the meantime, thank gourd for the matching EQ in Ozone.

BTW the cardioid capsules they came with are matched beautifully so at least there's that. pic relates to this

Setting up a little beginners studio. Unsure about the Akai EIE Pro. Any changes you'd make while sticking to the budget?
>>
>>55358651
Personally I'd spend more on the monitors and less on the interface if possible. And for those you should really consider the used market, it's not like you'd be touching them all the time like you would a keyboard
>>
>>55358570
How does a matching EQ work? EQs the left and right channels to make all frequencies the same level?
>>
Does anyone have any experience with outboard preamplifiers?
I'm considering buying the ISA One or maybe the ART ProChannel II

>>55358651
Everything looks pretty solid, the first thing you'll want to upgrade is your microphone and maybe your monitor after that.
>>
>>55358749
well you basically sample the spectrum of a signal (or track or whatever) and then you sample the spectrum of another track, and it will devise an EQ curve so that they have matching spectra. So, for example, if you had pink noise as one signal and wanted your piano concerto to have the same spectrum, you show it the pink noise, and tell it to make your concerto have the same spectrum, and voila, your beautiful classical piece is now essentially pink noise!

but really it's great in my case because all i have to do is sample both mics and make an EQ preset that gets one to match the other.

Difference between Ozone and Alloy?
>>
>>55359420
alloy is for mixing and sound design, ozone is for mastering.

You can't really run ozone on multiple tracks, it's supa heavy duty and linear phase and all that... it's meant for transparent, surgical mastering work as opposed to multitrack EQ, compression, de-essing, etc.

They have similar features but ozone is more heavy duty

Thinking of getting a track mixed and mastered online to see how it goes. Is it essential?
>>
>>55359924
is what essential? mixing? mastering? in my opinion yes, but really I wouldn't recommend online services. get to know someone who does it, and then work with them. even if all you can find is a stranger to mix or master your track, make sure it's someone you can meet and speak to and maybe even sit down with while they work.

also, generally don't have the same person mix as master, but that's not a rule
