the DT770s have a LOT of bass, its well controlled and tight but its very deep and abundant, absolutely awesome cans for metal and electronic, however i would look elsewhere (or just seriously consider open cans) if you like acoustic instruments.

in that case as far as closed cans go i think you would have a very hard time beating the DT770 250 ohms within their price range.

>>55226924
What are you looking for in cans?
MDR v6 is an amazing pair of closed headphones, senn 558 and dt770. Unless you go full out most cans after that are disminishing returns
>>55227049

I got MDR v6' from around the same price.
They sound bit harsh at first but they'll burn in soon enough. You can eq the higher frequencies out later. They do sound amazing and are very detailed. DT 770 is around the same price as well, but require amping, Senn 558 is the same price as well and comes with comfpy velour. ATH m50 is around 130 quid, but /g/entoos complain it's bassy.
Honestly pick whatever as long as it's from quality producers and check some reviews on headfi or whatever

>tfw you've been climbing up the walls for the past 4-5 days because it feels like your headphones' drivers aren't perfectly matched anymore, but not so drastically fucked as to make the shift plain and obvious
Is this even possible?
The left headphone just sounds off, like there's not enough happening in it, and the bass hits slightly to the right of center(but only slightly, it's not a huge shift) instead of having that central position where it hits right in the middle of your head. It's really fucking with me.
And I'm totally clueless when it comes to these sorts of things, which I assume is obvious from my vocabulary.
I've done that Audiocheck headphones test thing and there really does seem to be an imbalance.
>>55227537
Don't worry, friend.
Acting like you don't know anything when getting into a new area is the correct thing to do, as compared to idiots like
>>55227249
Amping is amplifying. What it basically does is it increases the volume of sound. It takes an analog signal and cranks up the volume. Some headphones are quiet with regular soundcards/smartphones/mp3 players. That is when they are "hard to drive" which means you require an amp to run them.
I might as well explain DAC's, which is digital analogue converter. Basically the audio is in a digital format, which is ones and zeroes. Digital signal does not deteriorate, it either is or isn't so all "super shielded specops tic tac" digital cables are snake oil. In order for headphones to play this music it needs to be converted to analogue, which happens in DAC. DAC's and analogue cables are suspectable to electric interference so shielding for them actually matters. You can easily spot it when you plug in headphones to a shitty soundcard and move the mouse around and click and scroll, which causes clearly audible interference.
Keep in mind all headphones need DAC's, which is why wireless headphones a shit because for the price they have to have good DAC's and wireless adapters and amplifiers built in.
>>55227578
You can take a straw, shield it with silver thread woven by elves (them being virgins also clears up treble but you have a bass problem, so save money) and blow into the damaged driver. That should balance it out

Not exactly audiophile fare but I'm not rich and they were perfectly decent before this happened.
>>55227732
Oh cool k270 ripoffs. How are they?
Basically what i'd do is
a) not be a tard and ask some bullshit anon tards how to solve a delicate problem, that might cost more cause headphones aren't cheap and ask other forums/google
b)disassemble and clean it
c)if doesn't work the "balance" feature is exacly just for that. Same rule as with eq applies: Never add, only subtract.
Don't worry about it somehow making headphones worse.
EQ and balance are part of getting things right.

Sennheiser Hd-650's for open
- At home, for mixing etc. and general use, comfy and great.
Akg K-550 for closed
- On the go, for recording and stuff, comfy for being closed unlike most closed cans. Good enough but nothing amazing.
Audio Technica IM-02 for IEM
- On the go, iPhone and whatnot. Very good, stock tips a bit bleh though. Quite mid forward and flat, which I like.
Going to add higher end cans at some point this year if I can afford it, probably the HD-800's or Audeze LCD-X. Also need to add some on ears for a cheap reference and just throwing in my bag every day, since my Porta Pro's broke for the third time. DT770s 250 Ohms

If anybody needs a super budget pair of decent headphones, please pick up the PortaPros. Super comfy and light, great bass, portable, great design overall. As I've never heard a pair of those I couldn't tell you, but what I can say is that compared to every other headphone I've heard in this price range the soundstage on these makes it sound like you're in the room with the music. For example, when I was first listening to OPN's Replica (the song) on these and the weird siren-esque sound came in I thought it was from another room and didn't realize it was part of the song until I listened to it again.
>>55233073

Yeah, two drivers. They're decidedly v shaped, but that combined possibly with the angled exit gives them a better soundstage to me than my 558s. They're also more detailed sounding to me. The only issue I could see for some is the fit. They're comfy for me all day, but the support on the back could be an issue for some. I can't say for sure. Went with these over the 200/200ltd for lack of bass port and more isolation, and am very pleased.
