Is there a such thing as positive sounding drone/ambient? Seems like all drone is brooding and depressing, Stars of the Lid, Robert Rich, Tim Hecker...
>>
>>55181055

there's a lot of positive and uplifting ambient but it usually gets tagged as New Age or Progressive Electronic
>>
It's up to your interpretation, but I think that Jefre Cantu-Ledesma is fairly positive sounding.

I'm also interested in seeing where this topic goes

>Progressive Electronic

Aha, suddenly Emeralds comes to mind. They're not exactly ambient, but they're quite pleasant and enjoyable to listen to when I don't want any distracting percussion in the music. I should check out some more in that genre.

And oh wow this is beautiful.

Yellow Swans isn't exactly my cup of tea, but I'm really digging that bandcamp you linked.
>>
>>55181161
I've been listening more to this bandcamp album you linked and my GOD IT'S FULL OF BEAUTIFUL
>>
>>55181084
Lmao, I was going to rec this as well. Also try Aphex Twin's Selected Ambient Works 85-92, it can be very uplifting at times. Or Boards of Canada's Music Has the Right to Children.
>>
>>55181397
glad you liked it. used to be one of my favorite records when i was an noise man, got it on tape somewhere...

Are you looking for warm drone possibly?

I can personally recommend Pausal.
>>
>>55181419
I found BoC's stuff as being kind of cheesy sounding, though I've never listened to SAW 85-92 before for some reason, but after listening to the first track, I feel like this one's a keeper. Aphex Twin must have had a time machine in the 90s and traveled to the future to do this.
>>
>>55181055
But Stars Of The Lid is extremely positive sounding, for the most part.
>>
>>55181494
Listening to Pausal, it's quite pretty, like seeing sparkly lights through a blurry lens.

>>55181541
Have you even read the songs' titles?
>>
>>55181519
;)
>>
Iasos, even though people have told me he's a jerk in real life lel
>>
>>55181577
Yeah I don't care. The music is extremely warm and positive to me. Refinement is even so cheesily happy I almost dislike it.
>>
>>55181582
RICHARD IS THAT YOU

CAN I RIDE IN YOUR TIME MACHINE

PLEASE
>>
>>55181610
I guess I can see that, it's kind of ambiguous in tone, and I guess I'm just seeing it in a darker way. Probably because of those song titles.

>Yeah I don't care
>>
>>55181622
By the way I love the titles too. Their music gives me one of the strongest synesthetic experiences to me. Especially on the Tired Sounds I see these huge clean buildings and cityscapes reflecting intense heat and light of the sun, no people around, just a very abstract environment. It's calming and reassuring, but there's still something very ominous about it, like everything seems just too "perfect".
>>
Celer
>>
>>55181733
Now Celer is depressing as fuck, and I don't mean just because she died.
>>
>>55181692
Actually that's how I'd describe it, ominous, like something bad's gonna happen soon. I don't get those synesthestic vibes from it though.

I think it's uplifting even though it's depressing.

I'll listen to these some other time. I'm getting really sleepy now, and I think bed's calling my name.

Listen to pic related OP. Ambient music drawn from nature. There's a Japanese word 木漏れ日 (komorebi) that evokes the feeling of looking at beams of light scatter through trees, and that's just what this album sounds like.

In 2009, unexpectedly. The project was originally shut down back then for it, but eventually restarted by Will. Capri was devoted to their life together with each track representing a moment they shared together. A lot of the moments come from their trip to the island of Capri. She died a few months after its release.
>>
>>55181897
Man, Leyland Kirby's music isn't just depressing, it's some of the only music that has actually made me feel fear/a sense of unease
>>
>>55181961
holy shit they've made alot of music

that's heartbreaking also
>>
>>55181993
I'm not a huge fan of Celer, honestly most of it isn't worth listening to, but they do have a couple good albums (check out Close Proximity... and Discourses For The Withered), but Capri is by far their best. If you want to listen to some extremely somber ambient now that you know the backstory, go for it.
>>
>>55181983
That's what I mean. The album I named really gave me vision of some dystopia, extremely lonely and empty but many people I sent it said it was very happy and uplifting.
Then again those were not drone or ambient people so I guessed that was a factor which is why I said it's probably depressing to the people here.

i am on mxe and this music sounds very good

thank you very much for showing me this
>>
>>55182022

Climbing Formation and Engaged Touches are really great though

>>
>>55182169
