Hopsin was my first introduction to hip hop that wasn't on the radio as a white, middle class suburbanite. After that, I got into OF. After that, I got into Childish, then Chance, then Doom, the Kendrick, then Flying Lotus. Honestly, Hopsin is not a bad place to start. It's like hip hop with training wheels.
