Why? You can have it ignore the 'the' so Rolling Stones shows up under 'R' instead of "T"

There's usually a "Sort Name" or "Sort Artist" field in the metadata.
>>
>>54922124
Why not just leave them as they are, know what genres they are personally, and not re-tag the genres on hundreds of thousands of songs?

What happens when the genre of an album changes between songs?

Sort Artist for me anyway
And sometimes when it sorts Albums by ABC instead of year i can pop in "1967 Sgt Pepper" into the Sort Album field so everything is in line.

Youd be surprised how itunes fucks with the sorting of songs within the same album . Even after matching eaches tags sometimes it just doesn't work.

I'm about 80Gb too late, but I've started formatting files properly before adding them to my actual library.

What can speed up the rest? I haven't tried MP3tag, but isn't there also software out there that also cleans up the actual folders?
>>
>>54922528
You can arrange them chronologically without having the year in the folder name, provided your music is properly tagged. With Windows, right click > sort by > check Year at the very bottom.
>>
>>54922604
*sort by > More > Year

I'm having problems with Rhthmbox on Linux. I can't get it to sync my Album Art to my iPod. Wat do?
>>
This is how you organize a music folder
Music -> [Letter] -> [Artist] -> [Year - Album]

Everything tagged properly and album art in folder
>>
>>54922719

>>

Also, what about split EP's and compilations?
>>
>>54922731

>>
>>54921743
My album art is sub par. Sometimes I'll do a few of them but the thing is that iTunes won't do them automatically for me but it's too much effort to do it manually.
>>
>>54922684
almost.

it's [artist]/[[date]] [album] for the folder. but i'll let it slip for now

>>
>>54922774
I use letters because it gets too cluttered otherwise.
I treat splits like a new artist.
Compilations go in a separate folder.
>>
I've had some of my stuff for forever and some of it has no art. I try to keep new downloads with art but generally only do it for extremely old stuff when I listen to it.

I make sure I don't have any repeated artists and have a code in Foobar to move "the" to the end of artist names after a comma.

I also label all my stuff by country of origin because sometimes I find it useful to sort that way. Took quite a while to do when I initially decided to do it.

>>
>>54922897
He just said it was bloated and inconvenient. It works slow as hell (takes ages to open, changing albums takes decades) constantly has iTunes in your face, can't customize the look, you have to convert your FLAC into shitty proprietary file formats. I have no clue why someone would use it when other options exist.

>>54923139
I have the latest version, I have it open right now. I still get massive slowdowns when doing something like scrolling through albums or changing them. This is all on my desktop.

It isn't just customization, other music players come with loads of features that make things much better, like auto tags, being able to tag albums are more than one genre, and lyrics are some basics more other players have down without being massively slow.

Are you really defending proprietary music file formats?
