I love Obzen, too. I think it has better songs than Catch-33. I can't name a song from Obzen that isn't absolutely monstrous. However, when I take Catch-33 as a whole, I think it's a better expression what the band is all about. It's all about forcing the listener through these extended repetitions of strange, intensely syncopated, dissonant stuff, and Meshuggah never did that better than Catch-33.

For me, Leprous are probably the GOAT band right now, especially within prog metal.
Ever had that feeling that a band knew exactly what you were looking for in music? Because Bilateral and Coal are the only time I've rated two albums by the same band a 10/10.
Really nervous for The Congregation. If these guys pull that off too, they'll definitely solidify themselves as my favourite musical act, period.

I just don't pay attention to the trends any more. Last show I went to was a Meshuggah one in New York. I'm aware that lots of people like Periphery, but it's not the same crowd I'm speaking of. Periphery doesn't have anyone for the scene girls to latch onto. I did see Periphery live a couple years back, but I didn't really care for their latest singles or new album. Sounded bad.
Voivod and Edge of Sanity are my favorite prog metal bands. Posting cause nobody mentioned them.
