This thread is for music, artists, albums or entire genres you'd like to discuss that would 404 on their own.
Go.
one of my favorite albums of all time
I would like to discuss nothing.
>>54511934
this is a good album, i dont know why it gets hate. lot of love and grooving and fun on this album
FPM for all-time best DJ
Kendrick Lamar is pretentious faggot and he hates white peoples
I like thing
Who likes tin hat? Anyone wanna upload helium?
Opinions? I think it's one of the best albums of the century so far.
And this why we don't have threads about these albums. Because no one knows them
>>54511934

its good but its half an hour too long imo
too much of the same thing
>>54511952

Any other things I should check out from his discography?
>>54512094

>no one knows them
I posted about this, and it's about to 404 with only like 2 responses lol.
Anyone a fan of the new Elder album?
I suggest you to shoot some mdma or mda, or even meow meow and get dissolved into new Jefre Cantu-Ledesma or Benoit Pioulard albums.
Pinkerton is good.
>>54512179
>meow meow
Gayest. Drug name. Ever.

What are you trying to say cuck? I hope you aren't autistic enough to think your memetext carries an actual message

Dead Roots Stirring was better, this one's mediocre
>>54512123
Univers Zero used to be talked about all the time around here.
>>54512151
AOTY so far.
>>54511984
I rarely see /mew/ shitting on Mew, I wonder how they'll react to new album
>>54512188
Just give it a shot.
>>54512197
The irony :)
I think this is a great band. Minus their last album which is beyond crap.
That's how drugs sound.
This album is a masterpiece, In Flames' best album and should be held as an absolute staple for what doing mainstream metal sounds like.
>>54512328
Are you stupid?
Really nice album full of groovy The Field remixes, I'm surely not the only one who listens to this on a regular basis.
Can we talk about how there is some ok ska?
and no Im not talking about fucking streetlight

This song gets a lot of hate, so does this album. It's my favourite though.
>>54511897
Coldplay is good
>>54512561
WHY MUST YOU RECORD MY PHONECALLS?
>>54512535
I agree mostly, but there was ONE ok ska-punk album
>>54511984
I've only heard no more stories, but I enjoyed it quite a bit how's this one?
>>54512570
This isn't a bait thread and any thread starting with that would get plenty of responces retard
>>54511897
Opinion's on The Go! Team's new stuff?
Anyone hyped for the new Built to Spill and Failure albums?
>>54512361
I like them as well. They're good for what they are, even though they're not pushing any boundaries
I'm a tiny bit hyped for the new Torres LP. Didn't even know of her/them until now.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ol61WOSzLF8
It seems really nothing special but I "feel it" right now.
Other than that new Jenny Hval seems interesting. Comes out in June I think.

>>54511897
Anyone else excited about for the new Driftless Pony Club album?

>>54512913
I'd guess OP's point was to discover music that lacks the official /mu/ seal of approval. So I don't see any problems here.
Good shit, needs more love.
>>54512390
The irony :)
>>54512913
This is my main gripe with /mu/
You either talk about stuff you like but no one knows so you can't discuss it
or
you talk about popular stuff which you dont really care about
Im only here for Jenny Death release shitstorm
How about the best 70s band? Big Star motehrfuckers
>Dubstep is shit, with the exception of one or two skrillex songs
>Coldplay are far better than Radiohead and, especially U2 (who are probably the worst band of all time)
>Blur's only good song is Song 2 and they really are talentless dickheads.
>Oasis is far better than Blur by a long shot and are the only good Britpop band besides Coldplay.
>Mumford and Sons and Imagine Dragons are actually pretty good and should be commended for being some of the few good indie bands who infiltrated the mainstream
>Music definitely has gone somewhat downhill and the shear quantity of music released nowadays means that good music is harder to find
>Trip-hop is shit (Even Burial and Massive Attack)
>Queen, Pink Floyd, and The Beatles were really great bands and are probably the most influential artists of the 60s, 70s, and 80s.
>Nirvana was the second best artist of the 80s and the best artist of the 90s.
>UK Garage music is the best musical genre to be invented in the last 10 years and UK garage bands like the white stripes, the strokes, the libertines, and the arctic monkeys were defining bands of the decade
>I really don't like "Oldschool" or "newschool" rap music, but Gorillaz are the best rap group and one of the most creative and innovative bands of the 2000s
>I don't really like much any music released this decade except by established bands
>Metal is not for kids and is a great genre
>Most indie music like fun. and capital cities is crap for girls
>Electronic music isn't a talentless genre (See: Deadmau5, Disclosure, and Daft Punk) but most people who make it are talentless hacks and it barely counts as music
>most /mu/core is shit
>Daft Punk are actually really good and are deserve to be famous
>I don't think that songs without singing are good
>I think jazz is boring
>I think people who still download or own digital copies of music instead of just using spotify and youtube are stupid. And I think people who still buy physical music are even worse and are hipsters.
>>54512994
This. I don't know why we don't just turn this board into a giant sharethread with a couple of generals, It'd be much nicer that way.
>>54512990
Are you stupid?
This is a great album.
>>54511944
Good thing you're on /mu/, nothing gets discussed here except memes and bait.

>>54512922
I'll check this one out.
I also have not seen pic related brought up.
these two bands dont get enough attention
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VqHFJLWayAI
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4DDtzMwLMeQ&spfreload=10
Does anybody listen to John Lurie and the Lounge Lizards here ?
Their jazz noir on the self-titled record is incredible.
Dir en Grey are underrated.
If they were a band who sang in English/were from the UK/USA, metal fans would never shut up about them.
Discuss.
I wish Alan Parsons was discussed more on /mu/, probably my favorite engineer/musician of all time.
1966-75 era Pink Floyd is really good
I tolerate some hip hop but I don't like it
Kendrick Lamar is too angry, he sounds dumb on all his recordings
Most pop music is good
Song longer than 30 minutes are almost always boring
Radiohead is boring
>>54513064
The irony :)
>>54515955
This isn't an unpopular opinions thread.
>so many butthurt whites mad because Kendrick's album doesn't "relate" to them
>he sounds so angry what a faggot
kill yourselves, trash.
Been trying to see if anyone on here likes or has even heard this album.
Has anyone heard this album? I'd like to know, it's one of my favorites.
>>54516010
>said the whitey
>>54515955
Yes.
I find Barrett to Mid Waters great. The Wall and onwards is crap.
>>54516010
why do I have to like music that doesn't relate to me? I have to like an album even if it does nothing for me?
>>54515997
The hypocrisy :)
>>54512151
Do you like the Wand albums? (Ganglion Reef and Golem)
>>54516118
The irony :)
>>54516118
>>54515997
why don't you two chat in private about this? I sense some sexual tension.
>>54516010
It is so weird to me that people want to listen to someone yelling. Nigga, watch the news or something if that's what you want to hear
>>54516064
The Wall is pretty worthless as an album alone, but I liked it in context with the movie
I generally agree with you though, my favourites are the early singles, Piper and Saucer for sure.
>>54516227
are you saying that you automatically dislike music that includes yelling? cause that's pleb as fuck
Crunkcore isn't all that bad. It's actually one of my favorite genres.
>inb4 bait
I never see them here and I dunno why. All of their albums are golden to me (yes, even the early punk ones). Their songwriting is admirable. Geniuses in my book.
>>54515540
First statement is correct
>>54516375
I don't necessarily dislike it, but I won't pay for it, that's for sure. And if you can't convey anger without yelling then you're a shitty lyricist and most likely a shitty musician as well.
>>54516118
>>54516181
hahah sorry I'm not the same guy who did it first, just wanted to tag along
>>54517055
why would you want to limit yourself in the first place? and why would yelling necessarily have anything to do with anger? and it's not like there's a neat classification of emotions or whatever, like there's a single anger and single sadness and so on. whether you're yelling or not changes the content.
>>54511897
I fucking love Elbow although most people here consider them boring mom rock.
I still find myself going back to Akon's awful releases. Anybody experiencing something similar?
My favorite tracks would have to be Don't Matter and Right Now.
Hospice is a great album
>>54516630
Neon Golden is amazing. How do their other albums compare though? I've heard that they don't live up to it.
>>54517237
I guess that's right. I mean, I do listen to most things I hear about, just to be able to have an opinion about it. I just don't like it as an aesthetic, it sounds really unappealing.
Some yelling is tolerable to me, like that ramones-style grunting that isn't even real words, parquet courts does that a lot, but the crazy homelessperson vocals is just too silly, man. NLDW sounds like if the guy with cornrows in his beard from S.O.A.D made a brostep album. It's just not acceptable. But I DO make sure to listen to everything I can find, just in case I like it. No luck yet though.
Best post hardcore release of the last 10 years
I would recommend Generationals for all Mac Demarco fans (everything expect Alix)
I've seen a few others mention this and express a general appreciation of Bull of Heaven, but this still most definitely belongs here.
https://archive.org/details/301WeedProblemIi-V
>>54517605
302 was a bolder statement.
Anyone familiar with this?
>>54517672
Not even their best or even ballsiest longplayer.
Harmonicas sound like shit and ruin a song.
>>54517841
You can't possibly know that for sure.
>>54516630
One of my favourite bands ever, I love all of their albums, also like their early hardcore stuff. I wish there was more music with that kind of metal riffs combined with soft vocals and an overall wistful feel. 12 is probably my favourite album by them, there isn't anything that's even remotely similar. With shrink they did what Radiohead were praised for with Kid A, but three years earlier
>tfw Windy & Carl don't get as much love on here
Who /wc/ here?
>>54517878
>bringing certainty into the discussion of Bull of Heaven longplayer quality
whats everyones favorite song
I listen to music :^)
anyone else on /mu/? i doubt it
Been there, tried that.
>>54517417
I prefer Shrink to Neon Golden tbh. You, The Devil+Me is also good, tho somewhat dull. Their newest one, Close To The Glass was very good imo. Their earlier punk records are decent, but nothing like their more recent stuff
>>54513991
underrated post
>>54517935
This. Sometimes greatness and talent arent rewarded like they should
>>54518295
This is a thread for uncommon music, not unpopular opinions. Justice is discussed plenty and would do well in their own thread.
>>54518394
problem is there aint not justice thread.
>>54515955
First two opinions aren't unpopular
>>54517322
Like 'em too.
Too often I feel like I'm the only Kettel fan on /mu/.
huh, well I was going to make a thread for this, but I guess I might as well post this here. Anybody want some free hipster-cred? I heard this on NPR just this morning.
http://www.npr.org/blogs/parallels/2015/03/22/394604701/qatar-digital-library-preserves-the-music-of-a-vanishing-past
Basically there's a state in the middle east that is archiving old obscure music from the area, that otherwise would be lost forever, some of it is really interesting.
>The genre is Sawt, which means voice, and it's thought to be a mix of traditional sea and desert music, combined with a new style which was percolating from Egypt.
>>54511944
Been listening to Theory of Everything alot lately and really digging. Really obviously inspired by Loveless and Psychocandy though.

Kendrick Lamar's new album is great.
Lurk here occasionally so I don't know how often Laurie Anderson is talked about around here. First time I listened to O Superman, I thought it was trash. I love it now

Alan Parsons is great. I've only listened to their two popular albums. I'll listen to some more soon. Thanks for the reminder, anon
Am I the only person here who genuinely likes smooth jazz?
I'd like to see a punk thread on /mu/ that isn't just a circlejerk about Damaged, Fresh Fruit For Rotting Vegetables, Zen Arcade and fucking Double Nickels On The Dime for once.
Nobody here ever seems to talk about hardcore after 1987, unless it's some shitty Pitchfork-approved band like Fucked Up or Perfect Pussy. Tried making threads about Terror or Xibalba but they always get 0 replies.
