ITT: Bands That You Might Have Missed
Last week, I learned about SPARKS, and it turns out they're really prolific and famous, but was never exposed to them because I only listen to /mu/.
So what are some bands that you rarely see mentioned, but are instant hooks that you feel you want to spread?
Here's some Sparks
Kimono My House (1974)
>hyper pop, glam rock, fun!, experimental and exciting

I always thought that looked like a crappy novelty record, but I'm listening to it now and I like it. It reminds me of Styx, but good.
Hasta Manana Monsieur!!
Sparks is really a cool band in that if someone mentions them you can know they probably actually do care about music a lot instead of just being an affected /mu/-drone
I've never met anyone who didn't know the lead single from that album. It's like bohemian rhapsody grade ubiquitous.
I don't know if this counts, but I rarely seen The Minders mentioned in E6 threads, but they're simple and cute.

I personally love this band, but it's virtually nonexistant on /mu/. Combines art rock, experimental rock, progressive rock, pop, classical, space rock, and like a million different things. I remember the first time I heard them, I thought it was like Marilyn Manson or something, but it turned out into something else.

I see Pere Ubu posted about surprisingly infrequently on here considering they're one of the quintessential post-punk groups. Even in post-punk threads I don't see them as often as other bands like This Heat or The Pop Group. I also only bothered listening to them earlier this year despite having first heard about them ages ago.
They're probably the best post-punk band in my opinion. Dub Housing is their best album.

I never hear anybody talking about the Violent Femmes. I absolutely love their first album, and their later work is pretty good too.
Oh I get it, this is one of those joke threads where you post bands everyone's heard.

Pretty good samefagging. You do know Sparks is talked about all the time here, especially that album? It's on a good amount of 3x3 threads, and it's in recent purchase threads a lot. Don't blame /mu/ for you not lurking enough.

*AIN'T
FUCK.

It's not the most popular in America, I honestly haven't talked to anyone who has heard of it, even older people. If anyone has it's usually because it was in the movie Kickass.

is this bait? I legitimately can't tell because it sounds so sincere.
I like Muse fine enough, but Matt's lyrics keep me from outright enjoying any of their albums.

no, it's just that you're a patrician.
