out of ideas? trying to "please" the old fans? idk. they'll probably use some old demo as well for the next album
>>
The song is fucking terrible, but at the very least, it made me go back and listen to OoS for the first time in about 4 years and it made me realise how great that album is. It was the album that got me into music, and I wish Muse had broken up about 10 years ago, instead of shitting all over themselves for the last few years.

>>54222100
It's kind of an okay song.
After Black Holes, Muse descend into something of a less interesting band so my expectations have somewhat diminished for their new stuff. Still probably gonna listen to the rest of the album anyway
>>
I thought it wasn't bad. I mean, at least compared to their last 2 releases, it sounds good. Sounds like a mix of something from OoS and Supermassive Black Hole.
>>
>>54222778
I honestly kinda liked The 2nd Law (pls don't kill me), I just liked OoS and Absolution better. Matt's guitar sound is just great on those albums and didn't really hear it on 2nd Law and Resistance.
>>
>>54222886
I don't think the are trying to please anyone at all, I want to believe they were just complying with a contract for a new release

That might have been the "scrap" of SS, but the result was not bad at all compared to the new crap they released today.

I don't know, lyrically it's really not at their best, I'm really just listening to the instruments right now and it's kinda great.

That riff, that he played for Stockholm outro, was one of my highlights from the show. A so-simple yet-so powerful riff made by 3 notes and a little bending. Less is more.

I mean seriously it is really one of my fav, OoT and Absolution will still be the best stuff they've ever done, but I have lower expectations with them nowadays, so it's ok.

Long time muse fan here
Seen them live 8 times so I'm pretty experienced with this sort of thread.

When I first heard the Stockholm outro riff come into play, my body overcame with joy and happiness.
>The riff is now changing
I'm now full erect expecting something amazing ahead
>fades into the more modern version of what Muse is today.
I'm okay with. Glad Tom Morello let Matt finally use the riff on an album.
>The lyrics
He's sang enough love songs and oddities throughout the years and getting older your political viewpoints become more important to you.
There's no way in hell he's going to avoid this song's meaning now like he did with Take A Bow
Looking forward to this album and tour.

I'll be probably get beat up for what I'm about to say, but for me, the best Muse lyrics ever was the second verse of Neutron Star Collision :

>The world is broken
>And halos fail to glisten
>You try to make a difference
>But no one wants to listen

>Hail, the preachers, fake and proud

I used to be a really big Muse fan during my teen years (Saw them at Wembley Stadium), but listening to that made me feel slightly embarrassed.

Anyway, Hoodoo lyrics wise at least was the best thing Bellamy has ever written

if you're at university you should already have grown out of muse

I don't exaxtly regularly listen to them, but holy shit 30 minutes away by train and a small venue, that would have been sick

This album made me realize that The Resistance is really not that bad.
God The 2nd Law was pretty abysmal though, and the new album is shaping up to be fucking terrible, and I highly doubt this single being within the context of the album will save it from being a shite song.
>>
Shit song, it's Uprising mixed with one riff they used to close their sets, and that fucking blues riff from Roadhouse Blues, because when Wolfmother did it was cool, right

damn you Matthew for making me jump into the hype train

The Resistance isn't a bad album imo. Deff doesn't deserve all the hate it receives.

God damn it Matthew, this just proves how you lost your mojo when you recycle stuff from 2004

Sorry I said Album. I meant song obviously.

Honestly, the only thing I actively dislike about Resistance was Guiding Light. USoE never really grabbed me when I was younger, but maybe I'd like it now.
MK Ultra, US, Exogenesis, and Resistance (song) are all pretty good by my book. And I'm sure I'll catch flack, but I actually kind of like Undisclosed Desires.
> new album is shaping up to be fucking terrible
I'm not really digging this track, but it's just one track. There's another single coming out in like a week or so. Fingers crossed until then.

I don't really like the song Resistance, but I will say I do really have a soft spot for Undisclosed desires.

>2 songs on Drones are just samples of people talking
>one of them was the drill sergeant in the video
>the other is presumably a JFK speech
>psycho sucks
>that leaves 9 more opportunities for a good song

I love the digital sound of the guitar in MK Ultra but like most of Muse's new stuff, it doesn't feel heavy, just bland

It feels like they just slapped formulas and produced it quickly for the money
