In my opinion he is one of the greatest rock producers out there (XTC, New York Dolls, Psychedelic Furs, The Tubes, Meatloaf, The Cars), he mastered a bunch of genres (chamber pop with The Nazz, 70s pop with his early solo stuff, jazz rock with Utopia), has put out at least a couple of albums for the ages (pic related)... Yet he doesn't get half the love Brian Eno gets. Why is that? What does/mu/ think of him?

production wise, he's one of the GOATs. i absolutely admire his sound. he was sampled by hundreds of artists. musically not so much. he put a lot of cheesy stuff out

Absolutely agree. Though there are plenty of gems hidden amid all that cheese. Is this Grizzly Bear before Grizzly Bear or what?

One of my favorites too!
>mfw i just found out about this dude a couple weeks ago.
some anon posted about Nazz. I gave the album a listen and really liked Hello It's Me....
eventually found out that he did another version which led me to finding Something/Anything? and it blew me away.
I also enjoyed A Wizard, A True Star, Todd, and Initiation
btw i scream along while listening to hello it's me (solo version) when im driving around town.

Is there any other way to listen to that song, man?
As burned out as it may be, I still think "Hello it's me" (solo version) is one of the most beautiful love songs of all time. Plus, it's the rare grown-up, bitter sweet, post-break up song. A great flipside to "I saw the light's" head-over-heels warmth.
