Can we have a post-rock recommendation thread?

No generic crap.

I like Hualun, a chinese post rock band.
This one time I saw This Will Destroy You, decent show just got repetitive.
>>
>>53881157
Yeah, This Will Destroy You is about as generic as it gets.

Maybe, but if there's a single album that deserves that title this would definitely be it.

They definitely do. Mogwai got me into post-rock and they're still one of my favorite bands.

Mr. Boy Dog and Crash My Moon Yacht are their best imo

Am I the only one who thinks Mogwai is pretty boring compared to other post-rock bands? Am I missing something here? I've listened to the Hawk is Howling, Mr. Beast, Young Team and Come on Die Young and they just never did anything for me.
>>
>>53882608
I like Mr. Boy Dog, the rest of their folk/world music excursions I'm not really fond of

The Evpatoria Report - Golevka is one of the best post-rock albums I know of. Bands like godspeed, Mogwai, Caspian etc. are what really made me want to explore music more but this album might be my favorite post-rock album still.

I listened to them in a DVD documenting Tony Hawk's Gigantic Skatepark Tour of 2002. That DVD had the GOATest music you will ever listen to. Included Cornelius, The Damned, Quasimoto, Mock Orange, Houston... It was perfect.
>>
>>53882901
They were a supergroup full of talented musicians.
>David Grubbs
>Jim O'Rourke
>Mick Turner
>Scott Tuma
>Edith Frost
>Will Oldham

They made slow, adagio compositions that blended americana, post-rock, and chamber music.
>>
>>53883288
oh yea I know you're talking about I tried to torrent that a while back for the sake of nostalgia, but it didn't exist on the internet

>>
>>53883138
Because there a million albums that sound just like it... slow droning sorrowful strings with other instruments peppered in here and there. Boring as fuck and nothing new.
