Can we have a post-rock recommendation thread?
No generic crap.
>>53881099
I like Hualun, a chinese post rock band.
This one time I saw This Will Destroy You, decent show just got repetitive.
>>53881157
Yeah, This Will Destroy You is about as generic as it gets.
this is great if you like field recordings in your postrock
what about sleepmakeswaves?
They're pretty good.

the national
do mogwai and don caballero qualify as post-rock? those bands made nice music
>>53882179
It's funny because I was going to put that exact green text under the first one but I thought it was too much.
>>53882002
/post-rock/ers check out Cerberus Shoal - Elements of Structure/Permanence and Homb
>>53882146
thats the kind of overbearing "cute" beauty that makes me want to throw up
>>53882292
lol
o
l
fucking christ, this thread sucks
>>53882242
Maybe, but if there's a single album that deserves that title this would definitely be it.
>>53882213
They definitely do. Mogwai got me into post-rock and they're still one of my favorite bands.
Doesn't DIIV technically fall under post-rock genre?
>>53882327
That is probably my favorite formless mass of noise I've heard in a long time.
>>53882385
No. And if they did, they wouldn't be welcome in this thread.
>>53882385
no they fall under the genre of shit
>>53882439
why not
>>53882292
OK nerd
i like this band a lot, i don't see people talk about them
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WWkMa4WdsIQ
>>53882439
Because Devin cheated us with Babak
FUCK YOU BABAK

>>53881099
Toe is a kinda cool, instrumental band
>>53882503

Here's something nice for all of you who like math-rock+post-rock
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8MyspzEV_T0
>>53882472
Beautiful track! Will listen to more by them.
>>53882503
good album but post-rock? i dont know
>>53882451
Because they are generic.
>>53882257
Mr. Boy Dog and Crash My Moon Yacht are their best imo
Am I the only one who thinks Mogwai is pretty boring compared to other post-rock bands? Am I missing something here? I've listened to the Hawk is Howling, Mr. Beast, Young Team and Come on Die Young and they just never did anything for me.
>>53882608
I like Mr. Boy Dog, the rest of their folk/world music excursions I'm not really fond of
Just found this by accident on Youtube, pretty cool stuff
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4t5aBMOMSa4
>>53882506
Toe is great! They're kind of in between math and post rock but I guess it still counts.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lACSvDOLhLU
>>53882679
listen to their whole album
Labradford was Godspeed You! before they were a thing
>>53882646

>I am God
>BBBBBWWWWAAM WAM WAMWAM
This should be more popular
>>53882646
Yes man, you're the only one in the entire world who doesn't like mogwai.
http://avesmusic.bandcamp.com/album/demo-2009-remastered-bonus-tracks
This shit is pretty good.
>>53882742
They don't even sound alike lol
>>53882655
Yeah they got really weird with the obnoxious vocals. Can't stand that stuff.
>>53882797
They're a generally disliked band? I just don't know, das why I ask~
>>53882646
I'm so glad I'm not you.
>>53882795
How would you describe them?
>>53882679
>>53882472
about as generic as it gets. fucking garbage
>>53882857
They're not, they're actually regarded pretty highly most of the time (until /mu/ contrarianism sets in).
He was just (sarcastically) saying that you're not the only one.
The Evpatoria Report - Golevka is one of the best post-rock albums I know of. Bands like godspeed, Mogwai, Caspian etc. are what really made me want to explore music more but this album might be my favorite post-rock album still.
Is weezer technically considered post rock?
>>53882773
>>53882795

>>53882901
so much generic trash...
>>53883049

>>53883049
Before posting, really ask yourself 'why would they be?'
>>53883072
How the hell is Boxhead Ensemble generic trash
I used to listen to this band, rumah sakit, back in the day...I forget where I even found out about them

Bark Psychosis
Beast Please Be Still
Cul De Sac
d_rradio
Dirty Three
Fridge
Grails
Rachel's
Red Sparowes
Slow Six
The Drift
The Samuel Jackson Five
Tristeza
who /firstwave/ here?
>>53883213
I listened to them in a DVD documenting Tony Hawk's Gigantic Skatepark Tour of 2002. That DVD had the GOATest music you will ever listen to. Included Cornelius, The Damned, Quasimoto, Mock Orange, Houston... It was perfect.
>>53882901
They were a supergroup full of talented musicians.
>David Grubbs
>Jim O'Rourke
>Mick Turner
>Scott Tuma
>Edith Frost
>Will Oldham
They made slow, adagio compositions that blended americana, post-rock, and chamber music.
>>53883288
oh yea I know you're talking about I tried to torrent that a while back for the sake of nostalgia, but it didn't exist on the internet
>>53883383
It just doesn't exist, I have disc 1 and disc 2 and I have good news to you, I uploaded everything from disc 1
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OvQJM5HM2no
Disc 2 is too scratched to read anywhere ;_; it was the best part and it had toooons of awesome extra content
>>53883138
Because there a million albums that sound just like it... slow droning sorrowful strings with other instruments peppered in here and there. Boring as fuck and nothing new.
>>53882350
That album's so great, easily the most underrated Constellation band.
Are they officially broken up or what?
I like this band, MONO.
Check out You are there
>>53883493
Yeah it's funny, and we both discovered them from the same Tony Hawk DVD lol
>>53883457
>slow droning sorrowful strings with other instruments peppered in here and there
You just described the majority of the genre.
>>53883528
>Bought an autographed CD from their site because I thought they'd at least be decent and it'd be a cool piece of memorabilia to have
>mfw listening
>>53883493
Actually Rumah Sakit starts playing at the 8:14 mark
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OvQJM5HM2no
>>53883528
That album is pretty good, but I like Hymn to the Immortal Wind slightly more. Moonlight is still one of my favorite post rock songs though.
>>53883548
Yeah and the majority of the "genre" is generic trash! And that's coming from a huge post-rock fan.
>>53881099
Grails, Earth, Red Sparowes, Marriages are all incredible and super unique
>>53883788
Only one I don't know is Marriages.
I posted >>53883265
and Cerberus Shoal.
Listening to Marriages - Kitsune now. Pretty good. Thanks.
this should be called "This is Our Best Album"
>>53883987
wrong pic
>>53884067
Maybe it's nostalgia...
Close call anyways
>inb4 GY!BE because it's a far superior proyect
Why nobody ever post this?
>>53882503
Nice call I honestly was thinking this had a lot of post-rock elements to it, I wouldn't say its strictly post rock tho.
It's hard to classify spiderland as post rock. It's almost nothing alike
Post rock is literally the worst genre which saddens me because I really like it. Theirs about 5 goods post rock albums

don't see why you'd think this. I understand if you think its dying, but there are countless great 1991-2004 pre-EITS-drone albums
