thanks man, you were right. the master was a bit distorted. sidechained some stuff for more room and filtered some unnecessary frequencies.
also added a very small reverb with a metallic damp to the snare and some distortion.
PSP Easyverb is really the shit for those small reverbs just to give it that extra space and realism.

cool, i often just need a little direction, it can be really though to figure everything out for yourself, especially if you're working on something for hours on end, i tend to lose touch with what the song needs.
I'm definitely gonna keep varying the bass, it's fun as heck.
