Type 0 with elements of 1 and 2.
Feels good to not be autistic.

I don't get why listening to some guy improvising on an electro acoustic guitar is so high?
>>
i think the pyramid, joke or not, is great, but these threads are normally awful

Oceangrunge is Type-V for sure.

How would you know how it feels to be autistic?

how is the pyramid great? it's retarded and completely arbitrary

whoever took the time to type out that retarded pyramid is an autist of the highest caliber

Why is traditional folk so high?
That just makes no sense to me, it's so basic and boring.

Also, is it meant to be about actually enjoying melodic/ rhythmical content?
And the higher up you are, the less you actually like music and just want to listen to something that isn't really music?

Not really. The pyramid is mostly about how out-there is the music. Sure there is a valoration element in it, but its easily ignorable. Then you can use it to research about music you haven't heard of and being aware of how “difficult" it is.
>>
>>51697536
it's not arbitrary. it's not perfect, but it's definitely not arbitrary. if you've listened to much of the music on it you can only but agree that it is generally correct in categorizing genres and composition techniques into groups of least accessible to most accessible.

with that said, someone needs to get the .psd of the image because there's a few genres that are incorrectly categorized.

Not american traditional folk, ofc.

that entire thing is just hampus jerking himself off over knowing some scientific music genres

Looking into becoming more patrician, anyone got some good Danger Music? It sounds interesting
>>
Reminder that anything above Type II is autism tier.

>Danger

It's just police sirens and warning alarms looped for an hour.
>>
>>51697683
My favorite piece of danger music is Takehisa Kosugi's "Music for a Revolution". In this piece, the performer is directed to “scoop out one of your eyes 5 years from now and do the same with the other eye 5 years later.

>Why is traditional folk so high?

it should be obvious why if you think it's boring. being basic isn't valid criticism for music.
>And the higher up you are, the less you actually like music and just want to listen to something that isn't really music?
no, the higher up you are, the more you can appreciate from music and sound. open your mind a little, anon.

what the piss-arse is "blackened noise"?
>>

Can a genre that's played by only one band really even count as a genre?
>>

that's literally the most retarded statement ever made on /mu/

next week: why all of "jazz" is objectively the third best type of music

noise influenced by black metal

haha plen

>>51697891
Jazz is objectively the best form of popula rmusic although I'm not a big fan of it
>>
>>51697876

anyone who considers it a genre is retarded

every band other than Magma that calls themselves "Zeuhl" generally turns out to be a Magma worship band with a few outside influences sprinkled on, except they are nowhere as good as Magma.

Basically (if you're not Magma) it's a tag you use when your band is so pretentious that even the term "avant-prog" sounds too boring to describe yourself.
>>
>>51697949
It's a subgenre
And I agree most of their clones are not nearly as good

if i asked someone what they listen to and they answered any of that shit from the top two i'd snatch their glasses off and step on them

>>
>>51697417
I like a little bit of everything up till type 4. Stuff like this is biased, it's based around the idea that being able to listen to and understand the music equates to enjoying it. because you understand something doesn't mean that you'll draw anything from it, and what's the point of art other than the feelings it can express and evoke? it goes back to the age old argument of "being a good musician doesn't mean that you'll make good music"
>>

now i'm no expert but that overall chart doesn't seem to be filled with xenharmonicism and generative music... looks more like a babby avant-teen's "last month" chart when he decides to listen to "real music for intellectuals"

>>
>>51698174
you can't even talk to anyone about it because it's rare to find others in it and the people who aren't in it will just immediately label you a pretentious twat. if anything you become more alienated listening to anything above 3. no one is impressed by what you listen to in any tier.
