woah and vaporwave uses a lot of samples and visuals from the late 80s-early 90s

This is so meta
>>
>>49086947

The government had just as much power (maybe even more because of the Cold War) in the 60s than they do now, but there was a lot more trust in government before the 60s cultural revolution. That was the significance of the 60s: people started questioning their own society and power structures a hell of a lot more than in previous decades.

The current generation already has the luxury of being extremely pessimist against government already because they were raised by a generation that adopted that pessimism.

What's even happening in St. Louis right now? I went on /pol/ but of course the only thing they'r talking about is how just because the victim was black, he was guilty of something.

Is this like Trayvon where both parties were in the wrong, or was that kid really just murdered?
>>
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GrVyp082K54
although it sounds dated, i kind of sense that this could be art from the future
>>
>>49087167
From what I've read/heard the kid got into and argument, slaps the cops hand away from his gun, cop pulls it out and shots him (thought he was going for the cops gun I guess) the kid puts his hands up and surrenders, the cops then shoots him several more times and kills him

Dammit, it can't ever just be a black and white (no pun intended) scenario, can it?

>Zimmerman

He seems like a dough but c'mon.
From what I understand the kid got into a confrontation with a cop, tried to take his gun, ran, then got shot and died.
The real problem from what I can see are the protesters lighting cars and shit on fire and looting stores.
>>
>>49086826
is this even real tho
>>
>>49087337
I view the Zimmerman trial like this:

Zimmerman shouldn't have started following the kid for no real reason, definitely shouldn't have tried to approach him.

Martin shouldn't have assaulted him/respond in the way he did.

>The real problem from what I can see are the protesters lighting cars and shit on fire and looting stores.
Yeah, we can't ever have a rational observation of anything because everyone just resorts to violence out of anger even though they didn't even know the victim.

How do we pre-empt music that will be listened to in 20 years? I'm trying brainstorm ideas of something that will be new but it feels like everything has been done already. Will will just go full-avant-garde listening to recordings of animals fucking with an off-set beat that sounds like a turd being dropped into a toilet bowl? Maybe we will listen to the sound of body's decomposing sped up 100x. Or maybe cosmic radiation along with a thalidomide child having a seizure. Where the fuck do we go from here?
>>
>>49087910
don't try to be ahead of your time, just make what you'd enjoy making/listening too. If there's a sound you want to hear but just can't find it, than work on it

I honestly believe this whole album is quite ahead of its time. I mean the whole way the album is put together reminds me of The Microphones and Eric's Trip with all the mix of acoustic songs and crunchy rock songs.

Here's the first track just for reference:

>>49087977
Recordings of animalfucking isn't avant garde.
>>
>>49087910
I've just decided that it's impossible to tell what will be the next "big thing".

I don't think anyone has ever made something and said, "Oh yeah, this is completely unique, this'll start a movement", they just made the sounds they wanted to hear, and other people liked those sounds too, so they expanded on them.

Personally, I'd like to see less genre-creating for the sake of genre-creating, and more expanding upon sounds that are in their prime right now.
>>
>>49088022
What do you think avant-garde means?
>>
>>49086471
I could see that song being on the random 35 track tape
>>
>>49087910
20 years will just be reappropriated music from before. You gotta think big picture. What will music be like in 100 years? 1000? 10000? 1000000? Beyond? At some point there has to been something that revolutionizes music so much that it becomes completely liberated from mere vibrational sound and becomes something more.

in a time when all black metal guys were playing shitty lo-fi thrash metal, these post-punkers were predating the artsy later 90s style of black metal.

No, beef heart and Beethoven were both ahead of their time, this doesn't mean they sounded futuristic, it means they were far ahead of their contemporaries. It just so happens that people end up catching on, because art and mediums progress, however by your definition, the point of art would be to progress
