Lately been getting into a lot of Japanese music, anything ranging from pop or idols to rock and metal. Would be interesting to see what you guys listen to.
Babymetal
recommend me some japanese noise rock. so far I've heard of Midori, Boredoms, OOIOO and Melt-Banana. i like the sounds of guitars on Melt-Banana's Fetch and would like to hear more of that if anything like this exists.
Taj Mahal Travellers! Acid Mothers Temple & The Melting Paraiso U.F.O.! Brast Burn!
Do we have any jrock charts? Couldn't find anything on the wiki.

very interested in japanese folk and fusion music
>also dating japanese girl :o!
>am I weeb yet?
>>48386092
I think the only japanese I listen to is We All Inherit The Moon.
>>48386662
Lily Chou Chou is actually Salyu by the way. She has a lot of good shit. Lots of feels from those vocals.

my stuff?
they're all quite different artists...
my favourite has to be the akiko yano album Japanese Girl, it's just incredible trad.-style singing with western influence
I'm learning to sing some of it with my gf
Yano covered this old song, so crazy haha

I'm looking through this guy's pastebin now, no idea where to start
>>48386655
Guys, I'm entry level (I only know of Boris and Melt-Banana). Any other good recs for Japanese music based on those two?
>>48386880
Try SYG88 by ???????.
I've been enjoying this quite a lot recently.

I know right, I'm monitoring this thread and going through so much music in that list *overwhelmed*
would people like japanese music as much if they all sang in english
>>48387654
Probably yes.
>>48387654
Probably. I already understand most of the lyrics anyway but I don't really pay attention to them.

I would feel the same as any other music with English lyrics; as long as the lyrics weren't 1000% cringeworthy absolutely

Not in the slightest. Japanese singing is fundamentally different with different syllables and different styles of singing.

She's definitely one of the best. Her first album his great too.

btw, daily reminder that Ringo is a goddess. Too many people don't go beyond KZK, but they should dig into her whole discography, including Tokyo Jihen.

Ichiko Aoba. Kind of poppy folk, had a new live album come out this year. I genuinely like her better live.

Mahou Ga Tsukaenai Nara Shinitai?
I got the Record Store Day pressings of that and her PINK EP. Pretty much everything she's put out so far has been excellent.

Urbangarde is a pretty good jrock/pop/electronic group. There's this kind of amateurish charm to them, but even though the sounds they use are presented in a pretty straightforward way, not a lot of filters or processing, the tracks don't feel basic or empty to me at all.
Yuu also led the rock band Go!Go!7188, but experimented more with her solo album. I liked it a good bit, and it reminded me a bit of Kalk Samen Kuri no Hana by Sheena Ringo. I'd really like for more people to give it a try.
I'm not very good at describing music, sorry.

I'd say get into the early noise-rock/jap psyche scene before getting into the newer stuff, not only will it give you some context I'd say it's much better than the scene today, just my opinion though.
