Lately been getting into a lot of Japanese music, anything ranging from pop or idols to rock and metal. Would be interesting to see what you guys listen to.

recommend me some japanese noise rock. so far I've heard of Midori, Boredoms, OOIOO and Melt-Banana. i like the sounds of guitars on Melt-Banana's Fetch and would like to hear more of that if anything like this exists.

I got the Record Store Day pressings of that and her PINK EP. Pretty much everything she's put out so far has been excellent.

Urbangarde is a pretty good jrock/pop/electronic group. There's this kind of amateurish charm to them, but even though the sounds they use are presented in a pretty straightforward way, not a lot of filters or processing, the tracks don't feel basic or empty to me at all.
Yuu also led the rock band Go!Go!7188, but experimented more with her solo album. I liked it a good bit, and it reminded me a bit of Kalk Samen Kuri no Hana by Sheena Ringo. I'd really like for more people to give it a try.

I'd say get into the early noise-rock/jap psyche scene before getting into the newer stuff, not only will it give you some context I'd say it's much better than the scene today, just my opinion though.
