/mu/ is so shit now, no-one shares albums, at least not any new finds. It's filled with shitty fucking cutesy games like "if /mu/ was a ____", "if you get dubs say a genre you like" or some shit like that.

If you think you're contributing more with this thread, you're not.

Sigur Ros are an overrated 3rd Wave Post Rock band that completely fit the archetype of ''crescendo-core'', if it wasn't for hype journalists like pitchfork the band would have been forgotten a long time ago.

What a great music contribution.

>>
>>48286277
No you see that's a strawman.

What I'm saying is you're requesting albums (and we have a board for requests - /r/) so you're really not contributing anything more musicially than Kpop threads, in all honesty.

I thought this album was talked about all the time. Though I might just be thinking of just when their other album came out.
>>
>>48288384
I never see that one mentioned but I may be wrong still one of my faves.

I've actually been meaning to start listening to them for like a year or two. Might start now. Do you reckon starting with Animals or their new one is smarter?

Either way is a good start. Different vocalists though because the original left. Both are very solid albums

Fave album is pic related, although I'm starting to worry that it doesn't have enough real variation in some of the songs (When You Sleep esp.) for me. I've long since unpacked all the noise and sound layers, and I'm starting to wonder if there's really as much underneath as I once thought.

Most recent purchase was Have One On Me by Joanna Newsom. Really good, although it's definitely very dense, like the avant-folk shit she incorporates. Tbh, at the moment I've only gone through the first disc, but Baby Birch kills me with the way that she escalates it over the course of nine minutes until she breaks into this bluesy shuffle at the end.

Wish people would talk more about Wussy or Natural Snow Buildings: they both have their respective fanbases, and Robert Christgau plugs Wussy whatever chance he can get, but I really feel as if they both ought to be more popular. The problem with Natural Snow Buildings is that their best album, Dance of the Moon and the Sun, was a 500-copy limited release that somehow made its way online. Plus, they're drone/freak folk, which puts a lot of people off. Wussy's issue is that their strength is in songwriting, not sonically standing out, which makes them fade into the background for a lot of people. That being said, their last album Attica, which was really good, was reviewed highly by P4K, so maybe they'll eventually receive some of the acclaim they deserve.
>>
Future Days, I guess.
The last thing I downloaded was Brendel's rendition of the Beethoven piano sonatas.
God, Time and Causality by John Fahey needs more love.

Goddamn I want that on vinyl so bad. Though from your description you got it on CD? My favorite track is probably '81 because of it's poetry and simplicity, though every single track is fantastic. It's a breathtaking album (which is dangerous, cause 2+ hours is pretty long to be breathless).

>>
>>48285512
This album is one of my favorite albums as well.
>>
>>48286148
Exactly this.

Which, despite my love of sigur ros and my general dislike for p4k, is pretty accurate. A good song here, a good song there...the best thing they've produced since Agaetis Byrjun is Valtari, by far
>>
>>48289168
I have to disagree with you there.
Every single release of sigur ros after Agaetis Byrjun have been at least an 8/10. each one of their albums was full of wonderful tracks

Takk... was their greatest release in my opinion, not agaetis. the atmosphere of Takk is so much more heavenly
>>
>>48288643
It's like you listen to Have One on Me and No Provenance and you're like "damn, this is really good!" and then Baby Birch comes in, it's completely flooring
>>
>>48289004
Yeah Benji got a lot of my friends into his music and I enjoyed it but yeah people dismissed it without listening to albums like April or Red House Painters.
