Thanks for everything. I'm near my 200th download. It's only been 2 months! Wow.
Anyways 'The Things I Do For Love' is about me wanting to mess around with girls for guilty pleasures, but at the same time I want something real. Hence the title "The Things I Do For Love"
'Coma' is about me trying to get this girl to realize how much I truly adore her. It is like she is blind and in a solidifying state of sleep and she can't see how much I truly want her, hence the title 'Coma'.

>Hiroshi Nagai's paintings
>Eureka Seven
>the nauseating electric blue skies youd always see in most all first party sega dreamcast games
i loved how all these things looked like, what they felt to me. and i tried my hardest to make lifter sound like what these things looked and felt like. i think its why people like this record so much more than all of the other things i do; its got spiritual energy in it. its actually got a piece of me inside it. i dont really think that its music i made, but rather, ideas and emotions in my head that i simply transcribed into sound.
i ought to make more music like that.

the story on this EP is i had just moved back to where people i knew lived and started smokin pot again after a year of not. i wrote like 3 or 4 half songs that i lost before i got "save often" and the 12 tone songs i wrote in a night after watching a half hour vihart video on 12 tone stuff. and then this dude from ireland picked up on it and put it on his "net-label" and now he's getting pretty big and i feel so out of place on the page. i think he thought i played some of the guitars/drums or something too?

Ey. My album is out next Tuesday. I have physical versions too!
I take a lot of elements from artists I like and I try to incorporate and twist them into something of my own. For instance the bassline from the song Velt Mark was inspired by DARKSIDE'S Paper Trails, because I was binging on that album when I made that song. On my album, I have a 5 second melodic reference to Rhubarb from Aphex Twin's SAW II. Other artists that inspired me during the making of this album were BoC, LCD Soundsystem, Dustin O'Halloran, Glasser, early Hot Chip, Four Tet, James Holden, a bit of Bonobo, Laurel Halo, Pere Ubu, Nils Frahm and Sun Araw

The title "¡Ember Up!" came from a dream the other member of the group had in which he bought a Nickelback album on vinyl, and a friend and I were impressed that he managed to buy their worst work. Naturally there are indications of this inspiration in the sampling choices of the title track.

This is volume 2 of my beats/ambient/vapor project. This one is more beat-heavy than the first. I'd love if you listened to it.
Track 15, "Puzzle Corp," started with an ADHD progression of bouncy ridiculous sounds going way too fast so that I could annoy the people in my living room while I was making it, but then it started to grow on me and morphed into a dirty, dirty trap beat.

Most of my songs are nothing more then a sort of rant against idiots that never ends. Just getting started with music, but its so much fun. My favorite track is Drone A. I recorded that on my dorms piano, set to strings, and then put a bunch of effects on it. There really isnt anything special about the music, just some different chords dragged out, but the music becomes interesting by me turning gain up and down which works nicely with echo. But my favorite part of the track is the way it builds to the end, where i add a pretty nice piano bell melody. Since i recorded it in my dorm lobby you can hear kids talking/walking around. pretty cool lo-fi aspect to the track. I also put a recording of my professor lecturing in there as well. all three kind of combine to make a really nice pay off after 5 or so minutes of build up

On the last night in my old apartment, once everything had been moved out and all the power and everything had been cut off, I still had a couple of days before my lease started in the new place so I basically had to squat in my empty apartment with power, water, or even a bed for several days. While I was there I had nothing to do, only had my laptop on me with a dwindling battery and no internet. Took a sample of the ambient stillness of the emptied apartment and worked it into an appropriation of the stillness and boredom that I felt during those days.

The two song EP you'll find if you click the link is a concept album, in a way. The lyrics to both songs are about the singer's failing relationship. The first song is about them pushing through the failure and making it work, and the second song is about it eventually failing anyway despite all that effort. The singer wrote the music for the first one, so I can't really speak to what exactly inspired him, but we tuned to Open C major for that one, which is kind of unique in the punk world. I (the drummer) wrote the music for the second one. I had just discovered Alcest and Les Discrets when I wrote it, and we had just gotten our hands on an 8string guitar and a fretless bass, so trying to apply some of that in a hardcore punk context was fun.

The Union is about (or more to) my dad, who left my mom for another woman when I was a kid.
Burn It Down is about a girl who I was seeing for about 3 years who continually slept with other guys and lied to me, and just about how our relationship turned into more of a pit of shit every time I tried to make things better.
>>47551209
was blank banshee a /mu/sician? I'm trying to make this kind of exclusive to artists that frequent mu

i truely have no life.it used to be that i made it in at least 2 bc threads a day, and have, with a few exceptions, kept that up everyday since i released lifter back in july.
it doesnt take much time out of my day to post here, but it really is a testament to how skewed my priorities can be.

"fantasy island ii" was inspired by an awful headache i was having so i listened to replica like 3 or 4 times and then threw a net club sample in to ableton and played with it a bunch and well two days later u have yr finished trak
a lot of this record was inspired by some personal relationship sexuality and gender issues i've been having as well as the last one

But yeah

All the songs are about being lonely, except for Surfer's Groove. Twins = Gemini, Crab = Cancer. Supposedly Geminis are supposed to be the center of attention while Cancers are usually introverts, and the lyrics play with relationships built between the two. I also toy with the idea of people sinning and god in The Garden. Alot of the songs are acoustic, I end up playing surfy rock when I play on the electric, so the final version will be a mixture between the two.

my favorite track is 88bmp. i made it during this amazing morning rain shower that just had the most beautiful quiet din that put me in an exceedingly solemn mood. i sat down with my ukulele and came up with this pedal tone based riff and pitched it down using my sp-404. i loaded up some drums into my mpc and recorded the drum beat for it all into ableton live like i was jel or some shit. everything just came together and felt so right, one of those magical moments when your music just comes out without you even noticing.
Its somewhat of an outlier on this album which has a lot of aggressive and ridiculous songs but i like the more chilled and emotional songs on here the best personally.
