Oldfag here. Hearing this song reminds of when I first heard Ashes to Ashes, which is not just my favourite Bowie song but my absolute favourite song. While I was familiar with Bowie as he was a constant on the radio and elsewhere in the 70s, this song just blew my mind. The music was unlike anything I'd ever heard before: otherworldly and jarring while being catchy and boppy. And the video clip was also incredible and alien.
I was aware of other interesting and dreamy music at the time, such as the seminal EDM song I Feel Love from Donna Summer/Giorgio Moroder. And the interesting music my older cousins listened to like Police, Cars, Pink Floyd, Sex Pistols.
But nothing has stuck with my like Ashes to Ashes. Anyway this new clip has had a similar effect on me 35 years later. Absolutely incredible it has reset my ear.
