Yura Yura Teikoku - Hollow Me/Beautiful (2009, 320kbps)
>japanese, psychedelic rock, krautrock

The other one died? Hmm. Reposting with two coming up.
The Sonora Pine - s/t (1996)
>Folk, alternative rock, violin, slowcore at times
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ium_PtQcphE
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bRPiaYLAZ9s
http://www.mediafire.com/download/c55hly4d7p3bhjb/
The Sonora Pine's first album was a super-group of good ideas and members: Tara Jane O'Neil, bass player of Rodan, Kevin Coultas who was the drummer for Rodan, Sean Meadows who played in June Of 44 and Lungfish, pianist Rachel Grimes of neoclassical ensemble Rachel's, and improv violinist Samara Lubelski. They all came together to make this half hard rocker and half whimsy/sulking, lay down in the dark album. Meadows and O'Neil trade vocal duties, which only makes the latter's shine more really. Kevin Coultas does the drums an does 'em good, as well as operating tape loops in certain tracks to great effect. Lubelski's contributions to the album really pop out, making it more than another run of the mill indie rock album.
Joe Bataan - Subway Joe (1969, v0)
>soul, boogaloo, salsa
>One of our favorite Latin soul albums ever -- a rollicking mix of upbeat party tracks, gentle ballads, and more -- all handled with the undeniable magic that is Joe Bataan at his best! The album kicks off with the fantastic groover "Subway Joe" -- a hilarious tune about Joe trying to find a seat on the subway -- and it rolls into killers like "Nuevo Jala Jala", "Juanito", "Ponte En Algo", and the wonderfully emotive "Special Girl". There's a really wonderful quality to all the tunes -- honest, open, and done with instrumentation that includes lots of dark passages, yet which also continues to flower in hope! A landmark, and a record that delights us again and again over the years!

The For Carnation - Fight Songs (EP) (1995)
>Slowcore, post-rock
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ne0r_QugTmA
http://www.mediafire.com/download/dnm6m834zre8lhj/
The For Carnation was Brian McMahan's project after Slint, and Fight Songs was the first thing they released. A short EP composed of three songs, the first and last detailing a narrative of a man accepting that someone important to him is leaving his life, as he wishes them well. The first track is a masterpiece to the nth degree of slowcore, with the third being a worthy followup. The second track is a real jovial jaunt by contrast about a minute and a half long, nice song but kind of against the grain here. David Pajo, former fellow band member of Slint, plays guitar on this EP as well.

Not to be confused with the edm label.
Papa M - Live From A Shark Cage (1999)
>Post-rock, slowcore, low-fi, folk
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-PcoysxOYfA
http://www.mediafire.com/download/267awcwqweaz6tm/
Anyone who knows Slint and Tortoise know how good David Pajo is on the guitar, most people don't know about his solo efforts though under Aerial M/Papa M. On this album, Pajo really shows his wide palette of capabilities, crossing genres from upbeat folky rhythms to the slowest of slowcore, and other musical endeavours like a 15 minute exercise in guitar ambience. At 59 minutes, it's an album that goes in a lot of directions but never feels scattered or unfocused, it's just real good stuff.

The Black Hippies - The Black Hippies (1977, 320)

This took me a while to get into honestly. Don't expect Godspeed going in. It may take a while to get used to it, and get through some of the more out-there sections, but listening to it enough times to get it is worth it.

Parts of it are, but it's still significantly more out-there than the furthest out Godspeed has gone.

The most obvious answers would be the Mt Fuji/Kilimanjaro Darkjazz whatevers, but have you ever heard of The Necks? Their first album, Sex (1989) is an hour long exploration similar to what Bohren would be doing years later, except less brooding.

>Bootleg
Has anyone noticed the complete lack of live show bootleg culture today? If you look up old bands like Led Zeppelin, you find dozens of their shows that people taped for bootlegs, and they exist as historical documents of the music and time, yet today when taping and distributing tapes of shows is easier than ever, almost no one even thinks to do it. Look at Death Grips, a massively important band that played comparatively few shows at all, and there's basically only one live bootleg of them. You would think at least someone seeing what was gonna be their final tour would have cared enough about music history to record the experience.
It's the same way with almost every band save for a few jam bands. You guys have no idea what you are missing out on honestly. Taper culture gave me hours of fun growing up as a fan of The Mars Volta.
>>65258490
The bootleg album has evolved from a physical albums
to clips of live performances on YouTube.
>>65258571
it's not the same. clips on youtube all have bad sound cause they are filmed on phones. It's basically unlistenable always. TMV existed long into the internet era and people still taped their shows on higher quality handheld devices. there wasn't physical media but people cared about the sound and uploaded flac of shows. Sometimes people would put the higher quality sound and sync it with phone videos even to make video bootlegs.
It's just surprising to me that people aren't coordinating this shit for any other artists, especially these electronic ones cause their music is so compressed it's easy to get decent live recordings. taped an autechre show last year and it sounded really good outside the crowd talking
