Ever stop and think just how weird and cool this whole thing is? A bunch of dudes love ponies and thats resulted in so much art, music, etc. A whole culture has grown from this childrens horse show.

It's scary that's what it is. I dropped into pony three years ago and it took me almost three months to catch up to the show. Now we're on season six. I can only imagine the newfags on the ride trying to play catch up on all of those episodes, the 3 EqG movies, and the shit ton of fan content. The amount fan content in particular is staggering
I mean it's not that surprising...initially it was only surprising because those of us who are a bit older or had female siblings remember the "my little pony" of our youth for being pretty vapid and..yeah for girls
But when you strip all that away and look at it for what it is....a cartoon show that pretty much stands above it's peers as being pretty good having a rabid fanbase of creeps...it's really just par for the course in nerdworld

Every once and a while something will happen that makes me think about it. It seems that all too quickly, many parts of the fandom forgot their love for the show and started fighting amongst themselves instead, trying to dictate how the community should be run. I would have liked for the enthusiasm we had in the early days to keep us together for longer than it did.

How is it that, at some point, we all had that same feeling? That all-encompassing need for anything related to the show? How can that exact same reaction occur in so many people when no two of us give the same reasons for it?
There is something about MLP that can't be replicated. Something truly and utterly unique. That's why for all the accusations the other boards throw around, there will never be "the next MLP". It happened once. It cannot happen again. While the magic can be brought back after being forgotten, there is no other source from which that magic can be created. It has to be this.
