welcome to die

For comparison the article had
12,000 views a day in 2011
8,000 views a day in 2013
3,500 views a day in 2015

Now it's hovering around 3,000 and trending way way down

Fandom is kill

>Fandom is kill
Anon, that "fandom is kill" is still more active and well known than any recent big hit.

Currently we are "Dr Who" or "Star Trek" level in terms of people interest and awareness.
And our fandom is still one of the most active in terms of dedicated content creators, surpassing vast majority of the mainstream by a landslide.

The bandwagon of 2012 has stopped, but the ride did not.

It never considered the number of people that watch it outside of TV (literally everybody who isn't in America). Viewership is irrelevant

The show lost quality, bandwagoners are gone, everyone watches the show online because Discovery Family is ass and the con attendance isn't down by much. Bronycon had horrible scheduling this year, being caught between two large cons.

Google and Wikipedia searches can't be used to gauge the activity of a fandom because fans are not going to use these to since they already have knowledge of the show and can directly go to a site.
The way to measure the activity of the fandom is to look at the amount of content being created.

The fandom isn't dying at all, Bronycon isn't the only convention that we have. The show is going good but I will say that the channel switch has been difficult for the show because of the overnight swap. Hub was a lot more open to the fandom as Discovery is a bit less supporting of story and real entertainment with the series with thinking that only kids should watch MLP when in fact it's viewings mostly consist of us! If the fandom is dying then why are brony websites doing so well? Why are MLP youtubers getting so many views and their massive influence on the youtube community. Then on other social media websites there are literally bronies everywhere and working great among the other profiles and pages. With all this taken in consideration, the fandom is doing great.
>>
>>27867079
Actually, 2012 was the peak of content creators bandwagon. In 2012 it was actually cool to do something MLP-related or to reference it - everyone was doing it (even PewDiePie had played a pony game back then).
The peak of MLP-awareness was around 2014.

It is just a lot of people who jumped the bandwagon have returned to their regular stuff and a lot of people who simply follow the mainstream did the same thing.

Currently we still have loads of content-creators and new ones keep coming. It doesn't "seem" as big, because we are no longer the big thing of the day and less normies are involved.

Unpopular opinion here. /mlp/ is just about the perfect size for a board. Threads don't die too quickly without constant posts, and they don't linger for linger for days without anyone noticing them.

You do realize we're literally one of the biggest fandoms ever, right? Being smaller than we were at our largest still makes us pretty danm huge. And we still generate more content than any other fandom.

yfw an album of 51 songs is being realesed today, from /mlp/ alone

OP one thing you don't seem to understand is that the ride never ends. Even if the show should end the ride will continue onward. It's much the same as licking a butthole, once you lick a butthole you can never un-lick that butthole OP. Just like once you've gotten on the ride you can never get off again.
